I do not think the kings resign BL , he hasn’t been the same since covid imo, and 2 million or more is allot for what he is providing now , maybe JAD can move to wing and there will be use for both

Why do you think a player making near league minimum with suddenly be making over $2 million per? Why do you think the Kings would not qualify Lizotte when he has shown he can play at this level and is an asset? So they just let him walk when he is an RFA and the Kings have a lot of control and just make him a UFA without anything in return? That would be very poor asset management IMO.

I was not clear my fault, I was saying I think him and JAD would make a good forechecking line and I mistakenly thought BL was making 1.6 this year , thought I had read it somewhere .

Can't believe this is even a discussion. Of course LA is going to re-sign Lizotte. He's an extremely effective fourth line center. Will he still be our fourth line center in three years? I'm not sure about that. But he is absolutely getting re-signed this offseason.

I get we're auditing next year's roster to a degree but I don't understand why both JAD and Lizotte can't co-exist on the roster as damn near elite depth. Frankly as much as I hate it I think they'd let Grundstrom walk if that became the scenario.

Hopefully Brown retires and AA leaves in free agency. That allows Vilardi and JAD to join the roster without losing any important pieces.

Kempe - Kopitar - Kaliyev
Moore - Danault - Arvidsson
Iafallo - Byfield - Vilardi
JAD - Lizotte - Lemieux
Grundstrom, Andersson

Lizotte is playing at or near his ceiling. Love his play but I am not sure if the path forward has him or someone like JAD in that spot. He is Colin Fraser, a great 4th line center on a cup contender, issue is by the time the kings are a cup contender what will Lizotte be?
Not against a 1 or 2 year deal with a low cap hit that can be burried if waived and cleared.

I think the most likely scenario is that the Kings resign Lizotte for a year or two. He's a proven asset on the 4th line, but can easily be moved to the press box or another team if a prospect like Anderson-Dolan forces his way on to the roster.

Dont look now but JAD has 18 goals & 33 pts - good enough for 2nd on the Reign. Huge Log Jam at center and while I really like Lizotte have to wonder how deep can they go in a playoff run with an undersized center who gets ragdolled in the regular season. Once again- hats off to him and hes been fantastic but from a long term team building perspective not sure what the Kings have in mind.
Would you say the same thing about Brad Marchand?

I’ll respectfully disagree, JAD has hasn’t been able to replicate what Lizotte is doing and that’s the reason he’s in Ontario.
Wait, what? No, he proved himself an everyday NHL player last year, but ended up in Ontario because he was one of the few players who didn't have to pass through waivers. He then went from a 3rd/4th liner there to one of the top scorers.

He's a victim of numbers and youth, not someone who played himself out of the NHL.

He didn’t not, he had a really great debut and then played some solid hockey with a guy whose now our 2LW and a kid who should be in the starting lineup but isn’t..

Didn't realize this was at issue. Just a quick search for contemporary reporting:

Opportunity exists for other LA Kings with the Quinton Byfield injury

While it appears one of Anderson-Dolan or Lizotte would still be out as fourth-line center, the Byfield injury at least keeps both of them from being out – for now. Anderson-Dolan is still waiver exempt, so barring any trades or further injuries, it appears as though Blake Lizotte might just wind up in LA to start the season

Lizotte has erased any doubt he is an NHL player. It’s not his fault that he started burying goals and JAD hasn’t proven he’s not a tweener. Results matter more than draft pedigree.

Lizotte is winning the numbers game. He’s peaking now and that’s making a difference on the Kings. I believe it’s futile to pin any major hopes around it. But it’s worth a lot in the moment and something you can point to down the road when playing remember when. I’m sure some fans think he is the new Trevor Lewis, but I doubt it.

The only reason it's a little unfair to compare them is because JAD hasn't been given the opportunity to do what Lizotte is doing. If Lizotte is off the team at some point in the next couple years, it's because we've found an even better option, and that's awesome. Until such a time, Lizotte is honestly one of our best forwards night in and night out.

Fair or not, Lizotte has made the most of his minutes. Waiting for someone to replace him becomes less likely as time goes by. It’s simpler to ink his name to a spot and focus your attention on areas that aren’t working. Outside of injuries there isn’t a reason to replace him while he’s playing well. This is what it comes down to when the top priority is wins and not player development.

Where does this desire to replace the 4th line center come from? Where does this myth of the placeholder 4th line center come from?

Seriously... what team has ever changed their 4C and instantly become a contender where before they were a misfit collection of bums.

What prospect languished in obscurity for lack of playing time at 4C while a veteran who was *checks notes* just a few years older than him held him back?

I know I shouldn't post like this but what sport is everybody watching because I am genuinely baffled by some of the rhetoric I see repeated.
