Where does this desire to replace the 4th line center come from? Where does this myth of the placeholder 4th line center come from?

Seriously... what team has ever changed their 4C and instantly become a contender where before they were a misfit collection of bums.

What prospect languished in obscurity for lack of playing time at 4C while a veteran who was *checks notes* just a few years older than him held him back?

I know I shouldn't post like this but what sport is everybody watching because I am genuinely baffled by some of the rhetoric I see repeated.

You’ve made the case that top prospects won’t languish in that roll. It seems the log jam of center prospects are now all converted wingers too.

Teams are drafting wingers and turning them into solid centers while the Kings draft high end centers with top picks and cant get them to play like prime Kopitar at 21 years old in a shortened season or brief call up and then convert them to wing.

Heh, you're absolutely correct in your observations that the 4th line isn't where the time and energy on improvement should be spent.

On the other hand, the Kings are modeling a path to the top six forward via the fourth line for Kaliyev and third line for Byfield. I think it's probably fair to discuss the top prospects moving into the Kings lineup via that bottom six path.

But is our most pressing issue to upgrade Lizotte, who's puck pursuit, and tenacity are on display every game? No.
