This is pure BS! Sweeney was with the team in 2006 in Player Development, so he had a part in building the team that ended up being the GM for!.
To think he didn't have a part in that is dumb!. He did because he was later trusted to GM the team, so they had to trust his judgement in the earlier roles, he had in the organization.
So he wasn't just handed those players had some continue to get wrong!

Speaking of dumb and a major haul of BS, is saying that Sweeney actually had that much influence in the Bruins on drafting Bergy and Krejci as they were drafted long before Sweeney was brought on board Or the signing of Chara , who followed PC over from Ottawa , the trade for Tuukka , or the signing of Krug all these took place when Sweeney was still running errands for Charlie. The drafting of Lucic and Marchand were drafted/orchestrated by PC/Gorton. I’ll give Sweeney full marks from 2015 on when he, as GM has final say, but to say he was influential in bringing in the aforementioned is preposterous and halfwitted.

Milan Lucic killed that franchise when he ran over Ryan Miller, it really is remarkable. Have they been relevant since???

I have several Sabres fans as friends (I grew up in that area) and they are all going crazy over this and the total lack of a response. It's really sad but it does illustrate how, despite drafting talent, they can never seem to build a winning culture there.

Probably only a matter of time before Thompson or Dahlin or somebody else loses their love for hockey (like Ryan O'Reilly did) and wants out and then they do it all over again.

It would kill them if Eichel became a Bruin in 2026 and led us to a cup.

Think that was pretty unavoidable. Guy actually played the puck and then in case of what looked to be a collision anyway, braced to be hitter and not hittee in said collision. Think most players would do the same.

Not trying to blame victim here, but Thompson’s peripheral vision and awareness left something to be desired.

I watched the 3rd period, and IIRC Thompson got tangled up with #71 and kinda lost his balance a bit (which happens all the time in hockey), and got caught with his head down reaching for the puck.

Noesen had every right to put a hit on Thompson, although the primary point of contact was to the head...and it looked like he followed through by lifting up his arm as contact was made

I'd be surprised if he's not suspended

One's a defender, but still, just forget about first names - "Pettersson passes to Pettersson, backhands to Pettersson, return feed to Pettersson, he dekes, Pettersson shoots and scores! As long as no pesky Hughes or Garland etc. with their inconveniently different surnames gets involved in the play, you'd never be wrong!

I wouldn't say you're wrong, because Thompson did leave himself in a vulnerable position, but Noesen didn't have to target his head the way he did

The Sens are on a 4 game winning streak and are also 7-2-1 in their last 10 games

With only 28 games remaining, it's gonna be tough for the B's to make the playoffs
