Does LA resign Lizotte?

If he does, then you have that problem with Byfield-Zegras instead of Byfield-Turcotte. I guess my point is that reads more like "I wish they would have picked Zegras" than anything to do with a slot for Turcotte, an opinion I know others share and no offense intended but it doesn't change the issue (and if they had picked Seider same thing but at RHD instead of C ).

I do agree with you though that that comment was very worrisome. And that Blake has sort of painted himself into a corner here. I'm eager to see what happens next, this is the inflection point at which Rob has some very difficult decisions to make and ultimately this deadline through the end of next season may ultimately determine the success of his tenure and how we view what he's started to put together.
Not to belabor it to death but if Zegras was the pick maybe then you take Stutzle. So many variables there and it’s a silly mind game in the end. That 5oa pick was a pretty big one one for the org. I thought they were picking a possible 1C, not knowingly picking a 3c. Anyway, I hope Turc turns into a contributing factor in the lineup or trade.

I wouldn't put too much weight into this whole 3c business.

They should resign Lizotte and it shouldn't affect having JAD on the roster at all IMO. There's a reason JAD has been playing on wing lately in the A. Having both on the 4th line with Pepe seems like a very capable line. 2 yr at 1.8, so 900k

I won’t talk on it again after this honestly, especially in a Lizotte thread. To me it is decision making. At the time they talked about getting more speed and skill. They went with overall game and intangibles over the pure skill. Still can payoff with playoff hockey but they really didn’t stray far from past tendencies.

Turc isn’t a bad player, a lot can happen and he will get his shot.

I’m bad at this kind of thing, but couldn’t Lizotte move to wing if they want JAD at C?

Lizotte-JAD-Lemieux or whoever.

This is assuming Kaliyev moves up the depth chart.

It's not a bad idea. Or the inverse, keep Lizotte at C and move JAD/another wing prospect over.

Ultimately, Lizotte has earned a contract (imo). If they keep him at C, I just hope whomever they put at wing actually has recent experience playing there.

This is a no brainer. I admit I was skeptical in the past, but he has been one of the best 4th line players in the entire league and just turned 24. People always want to put the shiny new toy higher draft picks in over Lizotte but none of them have looked nearly as good in the NHL as he has the last couple of seasons.

You know the boxes with player names in it? Lizotte's name should be written in the 4C box in permanent marker.

Hell ya. He will be a minimum wage or close to minimum wage player. He is a balls out puck hound. Spark like that is contagious.

no one has outplayed him yet and if he is the 13th forward filling in for injuries etc that would also be fine.

love his work ethic, he definitely in his role is not hurting the team.

Yes he needs to be re-signed. He was a sneaky effective player for the Kings in his rookie season. He had a drop off last season but has come on very strong this season. JAD seems to be more of a goal scorer anyway. Promote Kaliyev up a line or two and slide JAD into that vacated slot on the 4th line.

Well ‘they’ say it’s better to get more time in the minors to have the opportunity to be more dominant to unlock offensive upside. That seems to be happening for JAD as since moving to wing his goal scoring has really progressed and he now has 16g in 31 games. Given he is defensively responsible and has already demonstrated an ability to score in the NHL I really want to see him get a shot, but it’s hard to see that it would now be at Lizottes expense.

From all accounts he is not playing center this season in Ontario. He is playing on the wing, similar to Gabe now. I could be wrong though so someone who has a subscription to AHL TV can correct me.

He is hence I said ‘since moving to wing’. :naughty: :sarcasm:

I think he seems to have transitioned well and is now a consistent scoring threat from that position, so like Vilardi has earned another look. The other player lost in the mix is Akil Thomas who has taken a while to get track from the shoulder surgeries. It won’t be until next year when we start debating if he gets a cup of coffee but the organization holds him in very high regards by all accounts. His character and profile alone means he will get an opportunity at some point on that bottom 6, further complicating the log jam.

It’s fun times.

i actually didn't know this til now, i suppose that's the easy solution to all this then, resign lizotte and play JAD on his wing unless someone goes nuts in camp

Prob due to a majority of posters not wanting him near the lineup prior to the season starting…I think he’s dished up a whole lot of crow to be consumed.
The question has to do with the amount of center prospects in the org and if there will be room. That said. He is the perfect 4th line center even if he plays half the game on his ass.

There is some recency bias here. I am one of his fans, but Lizotte was brutal last season after contracting Covid, which was one of the reasons he was only signed to a 1 year deal .
He has more than made up for last year, but last year did happen and it was horribad

Looks like he's put that year behind him and moved on.

He was also miscast as a top 6 center next to Carter to start the year, struggled and appeared to lose a lot of confidence.

He's an ideal player for this team now and will be the perfect 13th forward once the roster evolves. Hell, I think Lizotte has been the teams second most valuable player thus far behind Danault. Nobody has done more to put the momentum and tone of each game in the Kings favor than Lizotte. His line propelled the team after Kopitar, Danault and Iafallo cooled off and they haven't looked back since.
