I think that even if we dislike that GI call, it was legitimate. I'm thinking back to the Tkachuk goaltender interference call vs Quick, when Tkachuk wasn't even in the blue paint and Quick skated out and tapped him and they called it no goal. I'm still f***ing mad about that one. Guess it all worked out, the Panthers didn't need those two points.

Anyway, I'm mainlining Cuban coffee today. My heart will explode.

The only call I thought was weak was the Ekblad crosscheck on the PK.
Something IMO that was a mix of equal cross check and embellishment.

Fortunately we don't have to argue much longer about the GI call since we won... but still: this is the POs. Andersen just made a completely strange movement into White. If he had just stayed put, he would have made the save and would have barely made contact with White. So is the logic for the goalie "oh, I just have to touch somebody of the opposing team in my crease and can let any puck sail by?"

It was a very weak call even if it kind of follows the rules. Thank God we won.

You should do some Ammazzacaffè, just a little advice ;)

Sometimes when I read a few of the posts, if I didn't know the outcome of the game, I would think we lost based on the snarky comments here.

I think a lot of people become very defeatist very quickly. I hope the Toronto series and seeing last night/this morning's game will cure some of that.

We lost game 4 to Toronto and I had to log off of the boards until the next game because people were posting 'reverse sweep guaranteed' takes and it was just absolutely exhausting. Being a fan of a team that was just absolutely putrid for over a decade within your short term memory will do that for you, I guess.

He was out of this world. But I've been mentioning this for a few games now.

Oh I'm just making sure you're praising those who warrant it ;)

This just screams bullshit though and why I simply cannot trust analytics. Not taking anything away from Bob, he was absolutely unbelievable but so was Freddie in OT.

The Panthers dominated overtime and had about 4-5 high quality chances they probably should've scored on. Way more dangerous then the eventual GWG.

Carolina was the better team in the 1st and 3rd but for them to "deserve to win" over 70% of these games? Complete bullshit. Florida dictated play for over half the game lol. Canes look very pedestrian offensively 5 on 5.

I don't agree with this at all, Florida was the better team 5 v 5. I honestly think the 3rd period and 4th OT were the only 2 periods they were outplayed.

Was more showing how well Bob played than anything but I agree with you both for sure. Seems like we've "deserved" to lose every game of the playoffs and yet still won 8 of last 9 games.

LFG!!

That's called gamesmanship. I'm not gonna blame the player in question who uses that measure but rather the refs who got suckered into believing that crap. And we'll be seeing more the same stuff because apparently it works for these refs.

The Canes might have a bit more skill and size (on defense) but based on this one game they don't possess that winning aura which the Panthers have atm. I'm not a fan of our fringe NHLers like the Stall bros, White and Ekbad(lol) but nonetheless their formula works.

if it was a fair called game, embellishment would've been called for diving into Bob and it would've been a 4 on 3.

or the interference on Bennett would've been called with :50 secs left in the power play we were given so we too would've had a 5 on 3.

or the high stick let go on Forsling followed by a high stick power play for them.

or a weak ass hooking call (that they let go for both) power play in OT followed by Barkov getting tackled to a non call.

They let Gudas get away with a lot. They let Chatfield get away with a lot. That doesn't make the rest fair.

For some to call 6 power plays to 3 including a 5 on 3 when the count could've easily been made even, while they let one team get away with more than the other instead - a fair game is ridiculous to put it as nice as possible.

Was NOT like the first game in Toronto where the count was uneven, and not in our favor, but calls and non calls were legit.

Something just feels right about the makeup of these guys.
They can play tight low scoring one goal games, run and gun or everything in between.

We got bailed out by a couple posts but Bobrovsky has held well his last 9 games.
It's good to see Barkov and Lundell lines able to contribute when Bennett line goes cold.

Honestly thought our PK would be the Achilles heel in both BOS and TOR series but I'd expect us to come out physically for game 2 and continue to play to our 5 on 5 strengths.

Barkov had a massive hit on Pesce, it's been very noticeable how many hits he's landed so far

This. Andersen slid into White and made contact with his skate for 0.1sec. This immensely brief touch was seconds before the shot. In fact, if anything, White’s skate stopped his slide which would have taken Andersen even more out of position. So White helped the goalie get a prayer of a chance to get back for a Hail Mary save.

Playoff-Barkov works well with forwards who can/rely on being able to buzz around in the o-zone with no care in the world towards defensive assignments. If Barkov can shutdown things in the neutral zone and keep the puck in the o-zone then that alleviates pressure on having all-around players on the wings.

imo they'll be hemorrhaging shorthanded goals in the future as well but in the long-run that'll even out. Like Bennett taking "stupid penalties" is part of their winning equation.

BOS survived a lot on their PP, 11 for 27 or 40.7% success rate
They scored 27 goals total in 7 games so 40% of their scoring came with man advantage.

FLA struggled a bit on PP in that series, 5 for 20 or 25%
They scored 26 goals total in the 7 games.

Since then FLA went 9 for 11 on the PK vs TOR and went 3 for 9 on the PP or 33.3%
FLA scored 14 goals and gave up 10 in the 5 games.

They've definitely adjusted some of the PK and/or getting elite goaltending from Bobrovsky and also continuing to thrive offensively while 5 on 5.

Will be interested to see how line matchups alter when Maurice has last change.
Looks like Barkov line feasted last night defensively in the sense his line was producing while opponent line was nullified

I don't think that this coaching staff is capable of making any PK strategy changes so all improvements or deterioration on those areas comes from Bob. If they're able to negate the cross-ice passes in the d-zone then their PK% should go up by at least little. These past few months those setup passes hasn't been a problem for Bob as he's still able to make saves on those one-timer shots.

Like I previously said, the Panthers will be winning this series because the loss in this game1 has to be significantly demoralizing for them.

He was playing the initial shot which got blocked in the scramble infront which he is entitled to do without contact.

Refs don’t review goalie interference it goes to Toronto.

So if Jarvis shot goes in instead of crossbar and stays out, then they have the winning aura? Lmao

I figured Tkachuk was desperate to get off the ice because he really needed to take a dump.

I act like that when I have to pee really bad

I wake up and the wife is on a Teams call wearing a “WE WANT FLORIDA” tee and talking about the game with co workers. Woman, you went to sleep on the second OT, the nerve:laugh:

Call them out!!
