Post-Game Talk: Dobby's first loss. Montreal loses to Devils, falls in PO race.

I don't trust any team in this muck to run away with it just yet.

At the beginning of the year, boston and nyr would have been safe picks, and the rest of the teams are unproven down the stretch.

The odds are against the Habs simply because of the number of teams involved, but all these teams have significant questions.
The two teams you've mentioned will find ways to get back on track. They have far too much talent to languish forever. They are also better placed to makes moves IMO.

I don't want to see f***ing matheson in the Habs uniform ever again.

I think it's time to start focusing on St Louis again - team yet again is not prepared to start the game. I hate the f***ing "tired" bullshit. They work 60-80 minutes per week... WEEK... while getting millions. In comparison normal people work 40 hours a week or more just to make ends meet, and cannot afford to just not show up. f*** that fatigue excuse. Every shift should be like their last. Instead, it takes one period to just wake up, then play decent one period and then presumably tired in the third.

You all go and toot their horn how they clawed back and got a point - yee haa!!! The team did not play for 60 minutes. Period. The only person who showed up was Dobes and he deserved a lot better that matheson bullshit in OT. I hate matheson... we such burning passion.
Ok but they don't play against 40 hours a week people, they play against other elite athletes. That's what you compare it too.

Anyway, didn't you say you were done with this team? Lol

Im asking, has Laine ever been that slow or the knee injury made it worse?
I watched his Spittin Chicklets interview where he mentioned that he's had 3 surgical procedures on the same knee and was relieved to do rehab instead of surgery. I remember him being a much better skater with the Jets but that amount of surgery has to take it's toll.

He was never fast, I do think he's slower or more passive in skating than usual. Even in Winnipeg he had a problem of not moving his feet at times (there's a hilarious clip of Bufyglien yelling at him to move). The general feeling was that when Laine moves his feet, he can be very effective, but he had games where he's just not moving.

Laine and Matheson was a perfect example of two guys operating at different speeds. Matheson is all about rushing the net while Laine plays a slow, methodical game. They have zero chemistry whatsoever. Honestly feel like the mistake was already made by putting those two guys on the ice at the same time.

Logic would say these teams have an inside track.

But Boston in particular needs to find another gear. The way they are getting it done right now isn't going to cut it, and the concerning thing for them is that they have already used their coaching card and it didn't really do much for them.

Winning today with 15 shots is another example of what I'm talking about.

Rangers do not have much talent now and they are getting old. Boston has no one with offensive ability aside from pasternak.

I'm getting really tired of Matheson. Physical skills are amazing yes but he's such a f***ing idiot. So many really bad decisions all the time.

Trade his ass for a first please and thank you.
His decision-making is some of the worse I've ever seen in my lifetime. He's got the physical skills to be an all-star, but his hockey brain is a mess.

Every game, he kills sustained pressure in the O-zone 3-4 times with a stupid shot on shinpads or that get deflected in the crowd, when there's an obvious better alternative.

He hangs on to pucks too long when there are obvious passes to move the play along.

He makes stupid decisions all game long. It's baffling. All night long, I cursed him for stupid plays.

This guy could be so good... what a waste of skills.

We got a point that wasn't looking like a possibility down 3-1, Dobes held them in it and on to the next one.

It would be good to start the games with some enthusiasm and get a lead, these games are wearing out the team and cannot continue.

Yeah it's gotta be exhausting constantly chasing the game. Especially when you consider how brutal the schedule has been for them. They're not doing themselves any favours with these awful starts.

Laine's pass was awful as it was behind him. Still Matheson shouldn't have gone for the puck along the boards. He needed to defend center ice & hope Evans would get back to help out on the 2 on 1.

Matheson needed to abandon the puck & take up defensive position.
Yeah not getting on the goal side of Hughes was inexcusable.

Laine is a pp specialist right now and the less time he have the puck on his stick, the better it is for everyone.
Laine will be less than ideal for a long time, I also think he's losing confidence. Right now he should be play with Evans and Armia, who have a good defensive, puckless play.

I feel sorry for Patrik. Such many problems. I'm not even surprised he wanted to end his career.
