Marner's agent is licking his chops.........as the leafs window just opened this year, it closes pretty quickly in the next season or two...cold truth.
the leaf window is open this year and closes until the cap raises significantly

Shanny really f***ed up by promoting a no mind yapper , the guys all talk but no balls .

I'll wait and see how the RFA deals league-wide (Rantanen, Aho, Laine, Tkachuk, Werenski, etc) play out before passing judgment. But, I am skeptical at this point.
We literally set the precedent. Dubas screwed over all the other gms and now all those rfas have two comparables (Matthews and Nylander) when trying to negotiate a high salary straight to ufa type of deal.

Everyone also needs to realize the only reason Nylander has a hit of 7 in the following years is cause it's over 10 this year. He has a 7.5 cap hit if he signed that deal at the beginning of the year.

Yes, nice job on Muzzin.
I'm ok with the Muzzin acquisition, but I think he did over pay. Yes I know it didn't cost a roster player, but I'm quite sure Rob Blake is very happy with the return he got. Him and all the other GM's who are or will be sellers this year.

So screwed that we'll be begging them to take contracts we don't want to keep off our hands and giving away young supporting players we can't afford to sign. I'm sure they are really screwed.

every time Dubas signs a player he resets the market.
If that doesn't scream failure I don't know what does.

Can't wait to see the new precedent he sets with the Marner contract. He might as well just concede to all demands until we have no cap space left and then he can only offer so much.

I don't give a f*** about other gms. I care about the leafs and how we overpaid 2 of our 3 premier rfas (so far) while also walking them straight into ufa. Where the f*** is the guy that got the Rielly and Kadri deals, bring him back.

We don't need a guy to build a team. We need a guy to keep a team together and finish it off. We have the core. Id actually take burkie back.

every time Dubas signs a player he resets the market. This happen by giving WN 7 mil a year, just happened with AM's contract, and will continue when Marner/Kappy/Johnsson get their turn. What goes around comes around.

what does this post have to do with other teams GM's which was in the post i was replying to

That's downright scary, Marner is going to absolutely slaughter us
You just know he's using this deal as his jumping off point in negotiations

Im so sick of posting this. Kadri had 1 50 point season (exactly 50 points) and 1 20 goal season (exactly 20) when he signed it wasnt a steal or even a good contract.

This was my biggest fear by putting in a greenhorn GM and going up against seasoned NHL agents.

Dubas contracts are shattering glass ceilings and setting new market levels for players both UFA and RFA and in a cap world where every penny counts this is not a good thing.

I liked the Muzzin trade and Tavares deal, but these last two contract negotiations with Nylander and Matthews have been complete and utter disasters.

We're going to get fleeced by Marner too and probably going to end up having to trade Kapanen.

If I'm Kappy's agent why do I start with anything less than $5m even on a bridge deal considering the contracts recently handed out by Dubas?

Really? Where?
where ?

whoever thinks this is a fair deal cares more about the GM than the team

AM's my favorite player but this cap hit should have been for at least 7 yrs if not the 8 yr max term . How anyone can believe otherwise is beyond me .
