We went from a team that scored a bunch and gave up a bunch to a team that scores very little and gives up a bunch. I hope signs of progress are going to show up soon because this is f***ing unwatchable.

On ice product looks a lot like a bunch of our best players are re-learning how to play hockey. Sucks when it comes to winning games but that’s what happens when you build up 5 years of bad habits. Watched a bunch of the oilers game last night and their 5 on 5 defence against mcdavid and Drai looked a lot better. We got cooked pking against an elite power play but there’s definitely glimmers of hope.

Hard to be upset about losing to Edmonton in a game they're in. It's arguably the hottest team in the league and the Senators are the most fragile team in the league right now.

Zach Hyman is better than anyone on our roster right now and he's only their 3rd or 4th best player.

I do think the team is looking more organized and Forsberg looked good, but obviously the season is completely lost at this point.

I hope our new coaching staff is planning to give some "Tortorella" treatment to many of the players. They really need reprogramming.

The biggest problem with this team is the players all thought they were good to awesome, the former coach told them all they were right there ready to win it all and you still see that pervade through comments of Giroux and Tkachuk the two leaders of the team - AND the biggest problem is the players are realizing and the game of NHL hockey is telling them directly to their face they aren’t good enough and they aren’t even close to being good enough. That’s a hard reality to swallow for a young millionaire who’s been handed everything on a silver platter. The coaches are telling them they aren’t good enough technically and certainly nowhere close to a winning attitude mentally. And the dream bubble for Brady, Timmy, Norris and Company has burst and the NHL game is telling them they aren’t anywhere close to being good enough Complete lose of confidence

Really good episode of coming in hot today for those interested in hearing the behind the scenes on ex-Ottawa coaches

So, ever since Martin took over Parker Kelly has seen his toi/go rise almost 4 mins a game,

With the top liners AWOL, Martin is rewarding Kelly for his hard work/effort, who in turn is being productive with the increased ice time.

Good to see Kelly performing, sad to see Kastelic not showing more progress and not performing as a 4th line NHL centre.

One of the DJ Smith team's signatures was an underperforming bottom-6. Leaned heavily on the top lines. Under Martin and Murray, the bottom 6 were part of the team's identity. I wonder if that difference is a result of deployment and coaching or simply talent.

Does anyone have any idea what kind of system Berube deploys? Also what was up with him and Kyrou?
A reporter asked Kyrou if he had any thoughts on Berube being fired and he gave a callous answer to the effect of "he's not my coach anymore so I don't care". I kind of get the impression he just misspoke or was fed up at the media questions and it got interpreted as disdain for Berube. The fans then booed him all night and at home and he was really upset afterwards in the locker room.

Was there animosity between the two before he got fired?

or maybe of the 23 players Berube coached this season, 2-3 worshiped the ground he walked on. 15-16 did not see him one way or the other and 2-3 did not like him.

And so Kyrou may have been of the 2-3 that disliked him. He got asked and answered honestly.

The kid is in his early 20 and is going through it for the first time. As are the bulk of the Blues, most have only had Berube.. Lesson learned, the next coach firing gets you the clichés.

Remember Tkachuk when the fire DJ chants first began.. over time and when DJ finally got fired, Brady went into cliché mode.

Gotta love how Dorion did everything to try to save his job except fire DJ last November when it was blatantly obvious he was a bad coach.

If he had done so our players would have gotten rid of their bad habits by now

Did a guy on his way out have the latitude to hire a new coaching staff? Or would ownership have said "you can fire DJ but you have to appoint one of the ACs as interim for the season"?

I don't see any fathomable way that Andlauer and Staios were planning to make changes at the GM position while also giving the outgoing GM the opportunity to lock them in on a multiyear contract with a new head coach. It doesn't make an ounce of sense.

Andlauer and Staios came 10 months after last November (2022 that he's talking about), there was only a board in place last November, and Dorion legitimately gave Smith's blessing to Andlauer in July
