Friendly game

Croatia - Slovenia 3:8 (0:4,2:2,1:2)

Jačmenjak (Janković)
Janković
Perkovich (Jačmenjak, Janković)

So the Netherlands will have Jurryt Smid, Eric Tummers, Joy Turpin, Dax van de Velden, Kevin Bruijsten, Marcel Kars, Steve Mason and Ronald Wurm from those who would usually play for them in WC. That's if all of those guys are good to play. Pretty impressive. Should still be more than enough to get the promotion though.

0:1 Ograjenšek (Kranjc, 6.), 0:2 Tičar (11.), 0:3 Tičar (Hebar, Jeglič, 14.), 0:4 Urbas (Simšič, 18), 1:4 Jačmenjak (Janković, 22.), 1:5 Ograjenšek (Simšič, 25.), 2:5 Janković (35.), 2:6 Pance (Urbas, Vidmar, 38.), 2:7 Pance (47.), 3:7 Perkovich (Jačmenjak, Janković, 55.), 3:8 Leber (Milovanovič, 58.)

Second goal was SH, Tičar was gifted by Tomljenović :) Third one nice tic tac toe play by slovenian best line. Best croatian player Janković Ivan with nice goal and he played very good game overall. If this game is any measure he should be most dangerous offensive player for us (with Rendulić, if he comes). As I predicted only few cronucks will play this year, MacAulay, Brine, Perkovich and Glumac, which is positive sign if you ask me, although I would rather see Martinović and Sertich than Brine and MacAulay
Bad news is that Kanaet injured his knee and is out for the WC.:(

I am looking forward to seeing China against Spain. While Spain is a surprisingly decent team for me, considering the climate and the interest they have for hockey, China has been putting so much money in sports that it makes me expect something from them. Sure, progress does not come in a month or two, but I am really eager to see if the Chinese care about their hockey. More than this game, I am wondering how they'll look 10 years later, with all this KHL hype and money.

So the Netherlands are going down to U18 D2B. Dutch hockey really at all time low with senior team at D2A, U20 team saving themselves from relegation to D2B in a shootout and U18 getting relegated. Terrible across the board.

Quite ironically, on the same day Tilburg qualifies for Oberliga finals and if they actually got into the DEL2 their club hockey would be at all time high.

Feel that the two things (Dutch teams all being relegated, Tilburg doing well in Germany) are related. In that the Dutch federation realises they need to do something, and so they got Tilburg to play in Germany (which is tying up several key Dutch player apparently), and began working closer with Belgium (can't recall if they joined their two leagues, or what, but Dutch and Belgian teams began to play against each other this year). Hopefully it produces some results, as skating is huge in the Netherlands so there is no reason they can't transition to hockey as well (much like South Korea I suppose).

Good game by Spain so far. They're leading 1:0

edit: 2:0 for Spain after two periods.

this looks like a really nice ice rink in Spain and they seem to pose a treath in all categories. Did they decide to invest in hockey?

What is happening with Netherlands? why have they decided to let everything go? Why didn't they bring at least some of Tillburg players?

A Chinese team will start playing in KHL from 2016/2017 season. HC Red Star Kunlun.
I'm aware of that. It's just that you said that there was KHL hype in China. What makes you think there's anything remotely resembling 'hype' in China? Red Star Kunlun is a Russian-initiated, Russian-financed club that's going to play in the Russian championship.

Tilburg is not eligible to be promoted to DEL2 this season. They will probably be eligible next season, although that has not been decided yet as far as I know.

The team eligible for promotion this year is the best ranked German team at the end of the playoffs.

What is the reason for such arrangement?

Don't really know. I heard early in the season that this was just supposed to be a test balloon to see how it works out for both sides, so they did not think long term.
Also the DEL2 and the Oberliga do not have the same governing body, so it's possible that the DEL2 did not want Tilburg promoted until they could see that the team would be accepted and embraced by German hockey fans.

Another possible reason are the requirements that must be fulfilled by any team that wishes to be promoted to DEL2, maybe those thing had something to do with it.

But that is all just speculation, I do not have any hard facts on that.

North Korea defeats New Zealand and, with the Bulgarian loss to Mexico, confirms it will stay in Division IIB next year. They haven't been able to stay at the Division II level since the reorganisation back in 2010 (before that they were solidly in Division II). For some reason New Zealand just has trouble against the North Koreans, with their fourth straight loss to them in IIHF play, having never beaten them.
