No games today but that South Africa Turkey game tomorrow could decide the round robin. Also Georgia has Hong Kong so they're still in contention.

Scenarios for tomorrow assuming Georgia doesn't lose any points to HK which is highly likely:

If Turkey doesn't lose in regulation they will be promoted.

If South Africa win in regulation by 2 goals or more or by 1 goal while scoring at least 6 goals they will be promoted.

If South Africa win in regulation by 1 goal while scoring 5 goals or less Georgia will be promoted.

Keep fishing

I'm just waiting for some GB fan to come along and explain to me how I'm expecting too much from Duggan, how he's playing just fine and whatnot. You know, what they/you have been repeating for years refusing to wake up and smell the coffee after his underwhelming performances.

I mean I just read the post on GB board where some fan still hopes he can be an NHL player some day..

It didn't help that some clown on Elite Prospects listed him as a draft prospect, that got everyone's hopes up. There was always a chance for him, if he did well in J20 this year there was a chance, the goalie on his team is a ranked prospect so the scouts would be there watching. There was obvious progression from last year but he hasn't done enough for the NHL to notice. No other GB player around his age would be able to play at the level of J20 anyway.

Don't know why he hasn't been able to put it together at international tournaments, his only good tournament was for the U18s when he was 15, could be because the coach is an imbecile and has him playing on the wing when he's a natural center and a face-off god, this is also overall the worst group of forwards in years. I don't know, he always does the little things right but can't seem to produce. I'm more interested in what he's doing in Sweden, he could still make it to a high level there, even Allsvenskan is a higher level than EIHL which most of his current GB teammates won't even reach.

Turkey handily defeats South Africa 7-2 and confirms that they will indeed be playing in Division IIB next year. Georgia as a result places second in the group, while South Africa takes third. Probably one of the most competitive Division III tournaments that's happened in a while, and good to see that the teams at this level are able to compete with each other. Even Bosnia, playing in just their second tournament since their return to international hockey, is vastly improved over last year (their goal differential is about half of what it was last year, though they still have to play Luxembourg at this point).

And like always, hopefully all these teams return, along with the UAE (who backed out at the last minute) and maybe even a new team or two (Taiwan has a U18 team, while Kyrgyzstan is a strong competitor in the Challenge Cup of Asia; both are logical choices).

bravo turkey. i've watched the tourney a bit, bet-motivated i must admit, but it was an entertaining watch. some teams upgraded a lot from last years, turkey and georgia showed really good progress.

Not a convincing win for GB, if they had stayed out of the box maybe it would have been, but still

Expecting a definite loss against Poland and a probable loss against Romania who have looked strong

Coach should be replaced after this tournament. Will be 3 years in a row he's failed to get the team out of this pool, there is no reason they shouldn't be good enough to be a D1B team when the U20s have cemented their place in that pool. 5 years in a row overall they've been stuck in D2A, soon to be 6.

Mens (Lithuania) against pee wee team (Croatia). This is just untrue how this bad Croatian team is.

btw. what that knight on Lithuania jersey means ? Is it some historical thing or what, because there is no knight on their flag ?

In addition to what Urbanskog said, it's also a historical state symbol of ours since the 15th century. The current 3-color flag was created by "the founding fathers" in 1918 since 1) three color flags were the trend back in the day; 2) it made sense to somewhat distance ourselves from the past and Grand Dutchy of Lithuania due to the political situation with Poland at the time.

P.S. Credit to Romanians/IIHF, after terrible stream quality the first day they figured stuff out. Camera man still has hard time fitting the action into the shot but other than that everything is nice.

P.P.S. Polish team cake-walking the tournament.

A good bunch of their players represent Trappers and they are still in the semifinals, likely advancing all the way to the finals so that should narrow the gap a little (although they are still the heavy favorites).

This will be interesting...
Can Serbia make a surprise? :D

Dalhuisen and Nagtzaam are also still in playoffs.

this kind of treatment of youth hockey will make a mediocre D2A team out of Croatia. There is a lot of potential and I hope that, should te circumstances in hockey remain the same, Croatian players will use possibilities they have in Maribor. It's a shame that all that potential is being wasted.

Lithuania is making easy work of Netherlands. Bogdziul with a natural hattrick.

First period wasn't streamed and the rest was a sleep fest. Sadly don't expect the other games today be much different, except for not being streamed part, hopefully.

Less time spent playing 5 on 5 than special teams, there's the IIHF officiating we know and love

35:39 2 min POL 14. PAS Dominik Holding an opponent
35:15 2 min GBR 22. SHUDRA Cole Slashing
35:06 2 min POL 11. LYSZCZARCZYK Alan Holding the Stick
33:53 2 min GBR 13. HEADLAND Matthew Cross-Checking
33:10 2 min POL 5. BIZACKI Olaf Charging
28:00 2 min GBR 5. SMITH Kyle Tripping
26:31 2 min POL 2. SKOKAN Tomasz Holding the Stick
21:32 2 min POL 11. LYSZCZARCZYK Alan

Apparently you're allowed to dump someone on their ass ages after the whistle, but not 1 second after they've passed the puck

Poland are by far the better team but the officiating is killing the game, let them play, the game wasn't rough and didn't need all these ****** penalties, all it's doing is frustrating the players
