Disney Star Wars General Discussion

Disney is now considering replacing some of Galaxy's Edge attractions with ones from The Mandalorian because visitors want to see characters like Mando, Ahsoka, Grogu and Luke, not Rey and Ren.
Having been to Galaxy's Edge at Walt Disney World in August 2019 during the Annual Passholder preview days and in December 2019, they only have two attractions which is Rise of the Resistance and Millennium Falcon Smugglers Run. I guarantee those attractions will not be getting replaced.

I forgot to mention at Disney's Hollywood Studios they have a thing called Star Wars Launch Bay which has nothing to do with Galaxy's Edge and they are on the opposite sides of the park. Anyway at the Launch Bay they originally had a meet and greet with Kylo Ren, however with the opening of Galaxy's Edge in August 2019 he was moved there where he walks around at certain times with the Stormtroopers, so his meet and greet at Launch Bay was replaced with Darth Vader.

That isn't what I meant. I was referring to smaller attractions, like Kylo Ren's ship (which the second link that I gave suggested could be replaced by a full-size Razor Crest), stations/booths around the park and, especially, the characters that walk around. The latter is primarily what both links were talking about, since the easiest and first conversion step is to simply start having employees walking around the park as Mando, Ahsoka and so on (either in addition to or replacing other characters).

Also, the first link suggests that, eventually, the two major attractions that you listed could be updated to incorporate elements from the TV shows. In fact, I imagine that that's a certainty eventually, since they've done the same thing with Star Tours at Disneyland. I'm reading that they've added locations and characters from each of the sequel trilogy movies to that in recent years.

Kylo's ship isn't an attraction like a ride. That's where he comes out from when he walks around Batuu, so I guess we have a different definition of what an attraction is.

Between Rise of the Resistance and Millennium Falcon Smugglers Run, the only one which could possibly be updated is Millennium Falcon Smugglers Run so you can fly the Falcon to any location in the Star Wars universe. If you watch the full video of Rise of the Resistance they can not update it and put you in other locations because the idea is how everyone gets captured by the First Order and are taken on board a Star Destroyer.

Finally they did the same thing with Star Tours at Walt Disney World adding scenes from the Episodes 7, 8, and 9.

An attraction isn't just a ride, but "something that attracts or is intended to attract people by appealing to their desires and tastes." Technically, everything in Galaxy's Edge is an attraction. A lot of people (me included, generally) probably do think mostly of rides when you say "attraction," but I was just using it in the broad sense because I couldn't think of a better single term off the top of my head and I didn't think that I'd be challenged on it. :)

Walt Disney World and Disneyland refer to the rides in the Theme Parks as "attractions" so that's the reason for my previous reply.

Also here is a video of Kylo coming off his ship and walking around Batuu so you can see why it's a different attraction compared to Rise of the Resistance and Millennium Falcon Smugglers Run.

They do, but they also refer to shows and exhibits as attractions, which is partly the reason for where I'm coming from. I didn't know what Galaxy's Edge had in it and thought that there was more to it. Thanks for informing me that that's not the case.

Here is a map of Galaxy's Edge so you can get a sense of what's there besides their two rides and other attractions like Kylo's ship. Now this map is from Disneyland, however Galaxy's Edge at Disney World includes the exact same things that are listed.

Plus here is a link to a Walt Disney World fan site and their experience they had at Galaxy's Edge.

One of the more interesting rumors and one that I thought would get more discussion is Favreau and Filoni's rumored plan to "tell an engaging saga that crescendos with a battle against Thrawn." Combined with the "MCU-like direction" that they're taking the franchise in, my guess is that the plan is to eventually have a series (perhaps a trilogy) of big screen movies in which many of the stars of the recently announced series come together to battle Thrawn, just like the Avengers movies. Once they do, Favreau and Filoni won't have to spend much time in the movies introducing and establishing the characters because that would've already been done in the various series. Also, it seems to me that it provides a possible explanation for why Disney announced so many series all at once: the sooner that they get all of these characters established and (more) popular, the sooner that they can make the movies that bring them all together and make $2B each.

As someone who's not into the MCU or the Avengers movies, I'm not sure if I want Star Wars to go that route, but I could end up liking it (similar to The Mandalorian after being unsure about the TV format), so I'll keep an open mind.

I was getting the sense it was all going to be done on Disney+ streaming.

But could they be repurposed to reflect the original trilogy and still give people the same experience?

I'm not sure if you were able to read this on that map but I wanted to mention at Galaxy's Edge the best store for merchandise is called Dok-Ondar's Den of Antiquities. They sell the more expensive merchandise like Legacy Lightsabers and I purchased Obi-Wan's Lightsaber that he used in The Phantom Menace. They also sell Jedi and Sith Holocrons that we saw in the Clone Wars and Rebels, so I also decided to purchase them. Here is a link with more information about it, plus pictures of the Lightsabers and Holocron displays.

I got Luke's saber when I went in January and will probably be getting Vader's next time I go whenever that will be. They also added Cal Kestis', Ahsoka's from Clone Wars and Dooku's as well.

The next time I go back to WDW I might cosnider getting Ahsoka's Lightsabers.

I know that Cal Kestis Lightsabers won that poll asking who's should be added and personally speaking I wish they went with Kanan and Ezra's second Lightsaber that debuted in Season 3 of Rebels. If those two were available 100% I would get them.

I would definitely enjoy having a ROTJ Luke Lightsaber, but I am not sure if $130 is worth it.

I'm not surprised by that number, but man I forgot how much souvenirs cost.

Its actually $150 because because the top part of it detaches in order to use the blade and the blade doesn't come with it which actually goes up to about $180. Its definitely a lot, but once you have it in your hands and feel the quality of it you won't be able to wipe the smile off your face.

Patty Jenkins is writing Rogue Squadron with a male writer, who she says will get to announce it himself later on. Some people have noticed she and Aaron Sorkin have shared several videos together, which has lead to speculation that he might be the one. Just a theory of course.

Don't forget the cost at Galaxy's Edge to build your own custom Lightsaber at Savi's Workshop $200, where as the Legacy Lightsabers are between $130 - $200 depending on which one you want to purchase.

However the Legacy Lightsabers don't include the blades or the stand to display them, because those are extra.

So there will be a lot of shots of pilots walking and talking all over the base or ship they're on.:sarcasm:

Earlier today I got this Ahsoka Clone Wars Black Series figure through a listing on Kijiji which is basically the Canadian version of Craig's List for those who never heard of it, so I meet the seller in person. It was only sold at Walmart and whenever I went to look for it they never had any in stock.
