Poch can't come soon enough man, that was maybe the worst performance from the men since Couva.

Don't really need to see Johnny, Tillman, or Aaronson for a while. Ream still has the fight at least but he just seems completely cooked.
Ream is done which is a bummer since he seems to be one of the guys who gets what it means to wear the shirt.

Puli, Jedi, maybe Balogun are the only guys that consistently give it everything for me. Adams and Reyna are just never on the field, McKennie is always up for the big games but can go missing in friendlies.

Was good to see guys like Morris and Schulte get chances and hopefully push that core group.

Schulte looked good which is a positive since they really have no number 1 at the moment. It’ll probably be Slonina but he’s a ways away still. Agree with the players you listed though I’ll say Adams is a dog whenever he is healthy. I also think Dest is a difference maker for them. But yeah, they need a coach to come in and crack the whip.

Trying to watch more of this U20 Women's World Cup as I'm a big tournament fan. Don't really catch many of the games other than the US as they aren't really shown on TV.

FS2 airs all the US games, anyway USA won in the quarterfinal against Germany last night after coming back from a 0-2 hole late, late in stoppage time

2 quick goals to tie it, then went to PK's and USA won 3-1 to advance to the semifinal of the U20 Women's World Cup against North Korea. Last 2 cups the US couldn't even get out of the group stage so it seems like this iteration of the US team is pretty damn good

Damn this City-Ars match is crazy…..City go up, lose a massive player, changes the game completely, Ars go up 2-1, now down a man to a careless 2nd yellow….

Unfortunate to give up the late tying goal but if you had offered Arsenal a draw before the game they would have taken it and definitely if you told them they would play the entire 2nd half down a man.

True but jfc what a way to drop those 2 pts. Could end up being the difference in the season, and they knew it.

Was that foul by Trossard worth a 2nd yellow? I don't know. Seemed like a foul but maybe not enough to send a guy off.

They are claiming the 2nd yellow was for kicking the ball away. I didn’t see the whole game, playing golf, and only saw the extended highlights, which seemed to say it was for the foul itself, which was questionable at absolute best IMO. So I really don’t know. But it seemed to me that Oliver was going to play as much extra time as needed for Citeh to find the equalizer so it doesn’t matter, it was coming one way or the other.

Honestly, it is the incredible lack of consistency with carding players for these ‘delay of game’ infringements that suck and so far looks like it could be an issue all season long. One guy does something and gets a card and another does the exact same thing 10 minutes later and nothing. If you are going to prioritize enforcing these issues then fine, but you need to do it consistently.

He basically body checked the guy….was very careless. In the sense that it was for an ejection, borderline….
Maybe but according to the media reports it wasn’t for the foul, it was for kicking the ball away.

And guys ‘post up’ for high balls like that all the time and often do it physically. As long as you don’t throw an elbow that hardly ever is a card. A foul? Yes but very rarely a yellow.

I was in the member's grill after my round, having some food and watching the game with a guy who used to play goalie in college and for some intl teams. We couldn't believe what we saw and neither of us could remember the first yellow card. We assumed we'd missed an earlier yellow and the 2nd was for the hard foul.

If the 2nd yellow was for this kick, that's utterly insane. Nevermind that Doku supposedly did the same thing earlier in the game, it's clear Trossard has no chance at all to even process the fact that he's being carded, and he's actually playing the ball out to the wing for Martinelli. This is a tactic they used all game long and wasn't just Trossard kicking the ball away to "delay" the game.

This ref should face some kind of discipline. Horrible call.

He didn’t “post up”, he ran through the guy. If it was for kicking the ball it wasn’t mentioned at the time, but I see the PL later confirmed it for delay. Isn’t that an automatic yellow?

Makes Arteta’s comments even more amusing lol….

Come on now. Watch the video and take off the blue sunglasses. LOL

The whistle comes as the play is unfolding and he's clearly playing the ball out to Martinelli, not just "kicking it away" with some clear pause in the action that suggests he was doing it because of the penalty.

I didn’t see the kicking the ball away thing…so I can’t comment. They didn’t even mention it on the broadcast at the time.

The kick is in the youtube video I posted. I wasn't aware of it until later, per my post. It wasn't obvious during the game itself, which is why it all seemed so weird.

But it was clearly the reason for 2 rapid fire yellow cards per the comments that came afterward.

Still haven't seen a definitive answer on it but my thoughts on the red (I am admittedly an arsenal fan):

If it's for the foul I think it's defendable but pretty soft. Trossard is reckless and goes through the back of Bernardo hard, but to give a second yellow for it is IMO harsh especially given some of the non-calls last season (Kovacic in particular) and Haaland doing the exact same thing three other times during the game. Trossard can't put himself in a position where a ref has to make a call like that though

If it's for kicking the ball away though I think it's pretty shocking. The Rice one I can actually live with even if it's annoying as he is deliberately delaying the restart well after the foul is given. Trossard clears it as Oliver blows the whistle and is trying to clear the ball after defending deep to get some respite, not to "delay the restart" (basically he would've done the same thing if a foul wasn't called). Nowhere close to as egregious as RVP vs. Barca but I think a similar intent. It's made all the more frustrating by the fact that not a single non-Arsenal player, including Doku earlier in the same game, has been given a yellow for this.

Did they "deserve" to win that game or even really be up before the red card - absolutely not. It's insanely frustrating though that every single little break possible -- from the Trossard red to seven (!!!) minutes of ET in the second half to Kovacic staying on the field last year all the way back to Stones clearing it off the line literally millimeters away in 2019 against Liverpool -- has gone City's way the past 10ish years.

Trossard propably got that card for that entire sequence. While the foul was reckless, he propably wasn't going to get a card for just that. But whether it was a card or not, it was definitely a foul and there's no doubt about it. Kicking the ball away during injury-time after knowing you fouled someone and already got a card... no way a referee gives you the benefit of the doubt from the initial foul. Trossard gave him a way to hand out that card and kicking the ball away after lost any good will he might have otherwise gotten from the referee.

Just so dumb. I mean... beyond dumb. You just watched Rice red card recently. How do you not learn?

4 point swing. That might lose them the title.

Looks like Rodri may be out for the season with an ACL tear. If so that is by far the biggest outcome of that game.

Called it a tear as soon as he went down. Was shocked he was allowed to walk off the field. Very reckless, imo.

There was literally no time between the foul, the whistle, and the kick. It was all basically at the same time.
