OT: Discusión del Fútbol (EPL, FIFA, LIGA, USMNT, USWNT, MLS, etc) - Parte Seis

I wanted the Qatar prince or whatever to buy MU last year.

Ineos is just a disaster at everything they touch.
Failed in the cycling sport (One of my favorite sport) big management problems.
Failed at Nice football club
And now the disaster continues in Manchester.

Ratcliffe seemed like the wrong guy from the get go.

Apparently it will be Ruben Amorim.
Sporting confirmed that the 10M€ will be paid to free their coach from the existing contract.

He’s a 3-4-3 guy so it will be interesting to see what they look like in that shape. He described his English as ‘rudimentary’ apparently so that isn’t ideal but the guy has certainly impressed at Sporting. Supposedly he turned down Liverpool before they went with Slot so I don’t necessarily see this as a done deal though.

Nightmare year for Arsenal’s title hopes. Too many injuries but the injury to Odegaard is killer. Very clear that the offense runs through him and they don’t have anyone else centrally that can distribute like him. Moving Partey to RB because of injuries also crushing — without Partey and Rice patrolling the midfield they can’t press as much.

Yeah but Ipswich has been the much better team in the first half.
United looked fundamentally the same IMO. Think Amorim is a better coach than Ten Hag for sure but their main issue is I don't think there's a single guy on the roster besides Fernandes and maybe Onana that are title-winning caliber.

In other soccer news, the Spirit got completely screwed last night

Title winning caliber?!?!? (said in my best Jim Mora ‘playoffs!’ voice), that team finished 8th in the league last season. They certainly have enough talent to compete for a top 4 spot but it will likely take them a while to adjust to Amorim’s preferred system. Ten Hag was a disaster though so in the long run this should be a good move for them.

Yea I totally agree it will take Amorim time and in the long run it's a great move. Don't think the results are going to turn that much though because I think the roster stinks. That 8th place last year was a complete mirage and by all underlying metrics they should've finished significantly lower. The talent gap to City and Liverpool (and Arsenal to a lesser extent) is still massive. Do anyone besides Bruno get into any of their 11s?

Again, not sure why you are comparing them to the top teams talent wise. But they have enough talent to compete for the 4th champions league place. They were definitely less than the sum of their parts last season as well as this one and that is on ten Hag IMO.

They can cross the top end talent bridge when they get to it. Right now they need to figure out how to get the most out of what they already have, which is not inconsiderable, IMO.
