Our U20 boys made it to the next round of the Concacaf U20 championship, qualifying them for the U20 World Cup next year.

Guatemala had a chance to tie it on a PK but the penalty was off and the keeper made the save.

I won't blame this all on GB but it's hard not to think he had a big part in this. Hopefully whoever takes over gets the US back to being a team known for grit and tenacity cancelling out talent disparities. They need someone to get in their shit and get rid of the country club atmosphere that's manifested recently with this team.

I blame GB for today’s and ALL future losses and team issues!

So it is written, so it shall be done…

Right? It's outrageous to suggest that the guy who coached the team for the last six years is at least somewhat responsible for the current culture of the team.
It’s a different team with a different coach. I’m not saying the national team coach and U23 coach don’t interact but this isn’t on Berhalter, IMO of course.

I think I still would prefer a more short-term "proven winner" type for this cycle but Matarazzo does not hurt my head at all and is by far the best options among American managers. Would be interesting to see if Brooks is back in the fold if he gets the job

I have a hard time envisioning Gallagher playing great in Spain, but maybe I’m wrong.
I think he’ll be fine. Technically he’s definitely good enough for La Liga and I believe his motor will be a difference maker for them. I understand why Chelski has to do this but they are going to miss him. IMO he was their second best player last season behind Palmer.

MP obviously has a much better looking resume' when it comes to teams coached, and it's not clear to me how much of the successes (and failures) were due to rosters or coaching. But there may at least be a change in formation.

Berhalter was probably mostly 4-3-3 and MP is said to prefer 4-2-3-1 though both have no doubt experimented.

Could open up some roster intrigue.
