I don't understand why they have the 4 digital adds in the corners on the boards, when the boards are already filled with ads. What do the digital ones add that the ones printed on the boards don't already accomplish?
Digital ads can be changed to other sponsors throughout the game, to generate even more revenue as we have to watch players skate through a giant Enterprise logo that's flickering on the ice.

I think it's because they can cycle through multiple different ads using the same spot.

I'm not a victim because I'm not wrong, these ads are barely noticeable to anyone who is actually watching the game.

You are calling me wrong on the basis that this thread is for complaining about these ads and that I shouldn't be here telling OP he is exaggerating. You are the one claiming this thread should be a safe space for people who share OP's views.

Also I used the term safe space to trigger the snowflakes and it seems to have worked beautifully.

this all is just as bad, if not worse than "woke ppl". u really seemed to be the triggered one here.

yikes.

complaining about ads, disregarding the league's need for revenue, is real all-about-me energy. wouldn't surprise for same ppl to complain about ticket prices.

suck it up.
Pfft. Do you accept everything that sucks, without question or complaint, like a good sheep? I doubt it.
League has no "need for revenue" as long as it earns enough to keep all the best talent.

Haven't seen any advertments on these boards, but perhaps it's not the same for everyone. Don't forget the website has to make money somehow to pay the internet bills.

I feel like I recall seeing electronic ads embedded in the boards about 20 years ago. Wish I could remember which arena it was... in any case, it's not a new technology and I was a bit surprised to see it in Florida considering it can be done digitally nowadays.

I hate that no touch icings were sold to us (among other reasons) as a way to speed up the game and improve the product's entertainment value, with no commercial breaks!... yet instead of insight and context about the game they found a way to cram in an advertisement on the screen.

A leap in logic.

No one against these ads is saying the league doesn't need to collect other forms of income - the argument is that they are distracting and invasive.

Not sure I agree they are distracting I haven't noticed a whole lot, I'm just outlining the actual debate.

I urinate on all advertisements and advertisers. Who the hell actually buys products because they see a logo? Especially big ticket corporate stuff. “Oh, because I saw IBMs logo at hockey, I think I’ll go spend $2M of my company’s money on the software.

I remember going to a Flames game pre covid and being disgusted that I was stuck behind a TD bank ad projected onto the netting behind the net. Idk if they just forgot to turn it off all game or what but it was very distracting.

During the first period of Preds and lightning winter classic it was almost impossible to focus on the game because the ads were consistently glitching.

Thankfully the broadcast gave up on it and just stopped bothering putting them on all together.

I don't mind ads on the ice but if they're glitching or they are like that God awful yellowstone ad that takes up half the screen on the powerplay, they've gone too far.

Have you tried looking up why companies pay money to advertise? It isn’t about getting someone to buy a product on the spot.

Just wait until the ads follow you home with your chip implant
As long as my personalized ads aren't broadcast I'm okay. I don't need everyone seeing the weird shit that gets advertised to me on the daily.

If you aren't annoyed by a giant very bright backlit display hawking some stupid crap you don't want while you're trying to watch a hockey game, I don't even know what to tell you. We might just be different species.

I think if they're going to do ads on jerseys, they should go all-out and let players have specific sponsors, or change their own names to brand names. Who wouldn't want to see Alex "McDonald's" Ovechkin break Gretzky's goals record?
