Digital ads on boards replacing traditional ads

These Ads are such trash they affect the viewing of the game they are trying to sell.

Today I saw a players Leg phase into the boards like he was being melted into concrete Manhattan Project style.

But who needs to be able to watch hockey without being distracted or getting a headache as long as the League gets to squeeze every single penny they can from game.

FANS BE DAMNED. THIS GAME IS FOR THE ADVERTISERS.

If they ever make GTA VI and you're online you get to watch another shitty Big Pharma commercial before you respawn like a "Game Over" sequence?

Hell... Just just randomly turn off our streams and make us buy products so we can continue watching hockey. Sometime during the game Bally Sports can just shut off your shit and demand tribute to Taco Bell and only lets you watch upon paying for the food

I noticed that as well catching up on highlights of the game last night, so I watched the end of it. Was so damn refreshing to watch a game with regular boards - never thought that was something I would take for granted.

At this point, I've been forcing myself to tolerate them to watch Devils games, but completely gave up on watching any non-Devils games as I can't stand the animated ads - otherwise, Rangers-Islanders is a game I would usually have also watched in the past.

Looks like the animated ads shut off halfway through the first period - no noticeable issues beyond the usual (animations are highly distracting, color is way off, the puck and parts of players disappears in front of them) - they just came back from commercial and they were gone.

It's incomprehensible to me how they are allowed. i guess we as fans might have gotten spoiled and overreacted to bitching about helmet or even jersey ads but this is a whole other animal. there's no defending or justifying those flashing/changing ads in the background as play is going on. they interfere with and distort the picture/players too. it's not hyperbole to say it might make a game unwatchable.

hopefully they are ditched or at least very downgraded.

Was at Crypto last night for the first time this season. They had been raving about in arena improvements including video boards. Well the upper two video boards that ring around the arena are basically the same thing, in game adds in bright colors that change during play. From my vantage point (behind the goal) it was as distracting as the boards ads.

A small boycott of any digital ad that screws with your viewing is what NHL fans need to band together and do.

Make the Ads do the exact opposite of what they are supposed to. See a digital ad for a Grocery store or something? Skip that Store for its competitor the next the 5 times out or whatever you think is appropriate. It’s the LEAST we could do.

We need to really band together and push back. We have to do something, not just all sit here and talk to each other about it. If we come up with a plan it would likely only take everyone a few minutes to do their part and follow up.

Do we storm ESPN with customer complaints? Anyone have any ideas. Let's make a plan and go after it.

The people have so much power, if they just step up and do something. Stop letting these money hungry people constantly take from us. We have enough shit to do in life, we just want to peacefully sit down and watch a sporting event with are hard earned free time.

I was thinking the exact same thing.
 
So apparently the NHL has worked years on this and sunk millions into this technology. And it still sucks ass. More general incompetence in the Bettman era.

Is it just me or are the ads themselves not as bright now? I feel like they turned down the opacity to make them a little more subtle.

I’ll try and grab some screen shots to compare soon.
 
The difference is indistinguishable. Digital or analog, our team still sucks. That's why you watch though isn't it? Who cares about the ads

looks bright and annoying to me. something about the refresh rate on it hurts my eyes. still can't watch games.
 
Money can be exchanged for goods and services. Since the NHL enjoys and needs money, you can expect to be stuck with these ads forever.
