The NFL has tons of ads but you'll never see them slathered on the field like this. This is costing the NHL money because people are turning off the games.
did someone say slathered on the field?

Don't hold back guys, this is pretty much all we can do about it and it only takes a couple of minutes to type something up.

So many jokes there, so little time........I did notice at least once tonight a Ranger player bent down waiting for the faceoff and his head and body disappeared.
No, many fans are looking away now........ from the entire sport and leagueIt took me a couple games to get used to it, I am looking at the ads a lot more than before. I guess it’s working.

I'm guessing that the people who want to write to the advertisers would say something more along the lines of "I will never purchase your product or service as long as you use these terrible ads in NHL games" versus "hey could you make your advertising less noticeable?"I'm learning to ignore them. Probably not what an advertiser wants to hear.
Those that want to write to the advertisers complainning that the ads are distracting... are you serious? Thats exactly what those companies want them to be. Noticeable.
Right... I see. Makes sense.I'm guessing that the people who want to write to the advertisers would say something more along the lines of "I will never purchase your product or service as long as you use these terrible ads in NHL games" versus "hey could you make your advertising less noticeable?"
Correct, but here’s my rebuttal: why force the home team feed to have digital ads then? The ads on the boards ARE ALREADY relevant to me as I live in the area. They don’t need to be covered. The away team can still show their digital ads to their market. Leave the home feed alone. This is what is driving this
TSN can run Canadian based ads in Ottawa
MSG can run Buffalo based ads
I have no idea. I was merely explaining what the strategy of people who feel compelled to write in would most likely be.Right... I see. Makes sense.
Do you think when I write to Canadian Tire and tell them I'll never shop at their stores again or write to Budweiser telling them I'll never drink their beer again that they'll believe me?
Totally. For those who say "don't look at them" the human eye is drawn to movement. Yes we don't have to continue to stare at them but it is in our biology for our eyes to detect movement. It's bad.
I also wonder how much of this is by design, because I had a hard time not getting distracted by the boards every time they change.
