Glass half empty: Boeser is not fast, not physical, not particularly good defensively, has a QA of 7.5 million.

Irrespective of his good qualities, I don’t understand why he’d be what Hex goes for. Major risk of turning into tears, IMO.

I'll laugh if Vancouver punts at the deadline. There's been so much rumor and speculation from Vancouver media posted that you could call this sub-forum Canucks Trade Rumors and Free Agent Talk.
Vancouver GM really trying too hard to get the media to put their message out to the league.

please inquire about Boeser. We don’t want to pay him his qualifying offer or risk him becoming a UFA. Please give us assets to take away this risky off season headache. Also. Please please call us about Halak or Motte. Maybe Garland too. But please call about our UFAs.

if you want Miller. He’s going to be super expensive.

message heard new GM. We got it. Good luck. Don’t think it’s going to help much.

With the rumor that Vancouver wants Zacha from NJ, maybe the emphasis is to get stronger on the wings? Not a really fan of that thinking if I'm reading this right if Kapanen + for Boeser is being discussed.

Boeser for Kapanen + Joseph + Hollander + 1st.

This was mentioned on the local radio, seems like a couple B level prospects plus a 1st with Kapanen.

If you get this and it is the offer you take it. See if you can relay the three player’s for another 1st from some team looking to add depth for a playoff run.
Deal turns into 2 1st round picks for Boeser, plus you save all of the cap he would eat up. Then the deal works out to be 2 1st round picks + a $4 million dollar UFA and 2 million cap space. Asset management, with wiggle room or you resign Motte.

Thanks but no thanks.
Kapanen has been a spazz, but he has 22 ES points to Boeser's 17. Beyond that you want a 1st, our best D prospect who is NHL ready and was a 1st round pick, and then perhaps our best C prospect who is in his first AHL season.

For a guy with a 7.5million QO.

Evan Rodrigues is having a better season than Boeser. It makes zero sense to me.

Local radio. OK. That would be a nice trade for Vancouver. Only creates more problems and doesn't really solve any for the Pens.

Why are so many Nucks fans ok with a Boeser for Kap + deal. Seriously does not move the needle for me , don’t think the pens are good trading partners for us.

If the Canucks are considering making this deal with Pittsburgh, the market for Boeser isn't great. Kapanen is a player Rutherford traded for when was the Penguins GM. He wants to add speed. Kapanen does have speed. He wants to create salary cap flexibility. Kapanen is cheaper than Boeser. Vancouver wants to dump the contract. Pittsburgh is a team with no assets. Rutherford's trades in Pittsburgh are a major reason why Pittsburgh has no assets. He traded #1 picks for Kapanen and Zucker.

Bruce Boudreau called Garland and Hoglander 3rd line players. Nice.

If Boeser is being traded to the Pens it's gonna be for Kapanen + Joseph. Rutherford loves these two guys and more importantly he doesn't want to fleece other GMs!

I think it’s more that people are assuming Rutherford will want kapanen again (as he’s traded for him in the past). Canucks want more speed/ get younger/ free up some cap space.

People trashing Kapanen don’t seem to understand that nobody has suggested the deal would be 1 for 1

Lmao. This post tries too hard. If u think the GM Allvin is trying to drum up interest in Connor Garland, idk, watch some hockey or something.

He’s not trash. And you’re right a 1 for 1 wouldn’t happen either.

Same-ish players are being suggested… kapanen/zacha. Either are ok just doesn’t really move the needle too much is all. Would honestly rather a high pick and/or prospect. We need cap space so turning around and resigning either for $4M-ish doesn’t really help much.

Please no for the Pens. Boeser is not what fits them and secondly, he has far to many concerns as to speed, compete level battle in the tough areas and defensive play. At 7.5 million or even a 5.5 million AAV for 5 years is not my cup of tea. Kap is playing better but his goal scoring is simply not good enough. He may be moved but not for a slower RW who has scoring ability but at that cost of keeping him, rather have Rust at 6 million.

Yes, I'm "manipulating figured" by pointing out his career pace and career maximums, while you cherrypicking one season is totally not "manipulating figures".
His career pace when adjusting for an 82 game season is around 70 pts a year. Injuries can be a concern sometimes, but when he puts up 55 in 62, 56 in 69, 45 in 57, 49 in 56, you have an elite scoring winger. Those are 72, 66, 66, 72 point paces. This year everyone slumped under a terrible coach, except 2 guys, and have since been back to career normals. Boeser has some pretty good value in a trade.

Rutherford, isn’t, the, GM.

Alvin is the GM. Rutherford sets the table. Jimmy was talking about the Canucks plan before he hired Alvin. The plan hasn’t changed since Alvin was hired. Create cap and roster flexibility. Add speed. Add picks and prospects. Rutherford has major influence there. Alvin works for Rutherford. Jimmy hired Alvin and all of the assistant GM's.
