I meant of the guys we're talking about (Slaf, Jiricek, Nemec, Cooley). If we take Wright, yeah, he's on the team next year.
I think Slafkovsky is the most likely fastest and then the others are close but I think Cooley is the most likely to only take a year.

He’s also a big guy. He doesn’t have to move his feet as fast to get to a decent speed but he still has decent foot speed. Sometimes big guys look like they’re moving slower than they are.
I think that's actually law of physics. Large objects look like they're moving slower when going the same speed as smaller objects.

He's playing himself right onto Montreal!

I’m really hoping the Devils bring Slafkovsky right over to North America next season (assuming they pick him).
He starts in the AHL unless he has a really good camp and earns a spot on the team and the team feels he’s ready.

I questioned his production in the finnish league but after watching him today against a modest french team, although made up of veteran players, he impressed for sure. Even if he doesn't score 30 goals a season at his peak, this kid impacts the game on the same level of a Jack Hughes. I am not exagerating when I say this. Slovakia was dangerous every time he was on the ice. I didn't really notice any weaknesses in his game. You win stanley cups with guys like Slafkovsky and Mercer in your team. They bring that edge. That unique combination of skill, physicality and non-stop compete level.

I'm not comparing the two, but if anyone, maybe Steve, could answer. If Kakko and Slaf were in the same draft, no redraft, just the players the were projected to be at the time of the draft, who would have went first?

Not speaking for Steve, but I’ve seen him say Slaf is the best power forward prospect in the last 5 years.

Kakko is a one trick pony. He has limited offensive skills and doesn't play physical despite his size. Slafkovsky is the real deal. A complete player with elite hands, vision and physicality. The guy can individually will his team into dangerous scoring chances shift after shift. Kakko can only dream that.

So if this is all even remotely true, why was there talks like he wouldn't just be given a shot right away?

You can say Kakko struggled, but if he does any better at all than Kakko did, I think he would fit in just fine in the bottom 6 and make his way through the line up if and when he's ready.

This may be a stupid comparison, but his skating and pace of his game reminds me a little bit of Draisaitl. I don't mean they are similar players otherwise, but they are big guys who don't look fast and dynamic. Of course Slafkovsky isn't as great and dominating player as Draisaitl, and he never will be, but I just see some similarities in their game. Maybe I'm the only one who sees it.

I have seen him say that Kakko is a very good prospect that is “good” and several things but lacks being elite at any one skillset.

2 W Kappo Kakko the complete package, brilliant in every respect, likened to Peter Forsberg on the wing.” He also said this about Kakko pre-draft. It seems like revisionism to suggest these players are that far apart as prospects.

No , I think the same where he reminds me of Draisaitl but didn’t want to say it as people would mistake that as me saying I think Slaf is going to be be the next Drai .

Not many people have seen him play until the Olympics early this year which coincides with the time period where he made this massive jump. The kid looks NHL ready to me. Didn't look at all like an 18 year old.
I’m not gonna say he’s NHL ready but it wouldn’t surprise me if he played and did alright next year.

I think he should be brought over the NA and then play in the NHL or AHL depending on how well he does.

How convinced are you guys that MTL goes with Wright with the 1st O? I'd say 95~ish%.

Can't see them going of the board there when you can have the consensus, #1, Canadian centre in front of your fans. It's also a need for MTL.

Ya something like that. I think it’s highly unlikely they pass on him.

I’d say it’s 99% unless something crazy happens like Wrifht breaks both his femurs while bullfighting or something like that.
