Who else on the Rangers has low hockey IQ? Is there any stat involving this evaluation?
Hockey IQ is one of the most interesting things to evaluate.

It’s not an exact science and it’s not easy, but in my opinion, players with a low IQ are: Vesey, Chytil, Namestnikov (offensive IQ is bad, his defensive IQ is ok), Skjei, Pionk (defensive IQ is bad, his offensive IQ is very good I think), and Smith. Guys like Staal and Boo have below average IQ, but it’s not terrible. Kreider has a below average to average IQ. Like I said, it’s not an exact science, and I missed some players, but yea. Also, some players have a good offensive IQ but a poor defensive IQ (and vice versa), some have good vision but bad awareness, some have good positioning but poor vision, and so on.

Edit: Thank you, @effen. You explained it pretty much perfectly. It is indeed much more expansive than just making a mistake.

Ummm....Rangers....you're up 3-0, that doesn't mean you stop playing.

OOps!! Never mind. I thought we were on the PP.. LOL!!

Have they shown any of the healthy scratches on screen yet?

I Imagine they have had meetings with management backstage about theire situations..

Off the top of my head, Vesey, Shattenkirk, Chytil, Pionk, Skjei, and Smith all have varying circumstances where they are in the wrong place, doing the wrong thing, or completely single minded with what they're doing. ADA did this for a while doing bad pinches and then never rotating back to D.

Low hockey IQ doesn't mean "makes a mistake" its kinda more expansive than that. It's knowing the situation, what is the ideal outcome, and how best you can accomplish that with your position and ability. And then doing the opposite of that.

I would assume that hockey IQ is a constant. Can't get better or worse. Might as well deal Chytil now if your evaluation is correct.

ADA's skating with Andersson's shot would make for the impact first rounder the Rangers have been looking for.

No. Not true. DeAngelo’s IQ has improved significantly. I always loved him, but I was worried about his below average hockey IQ. And now I’m not worried:)

RE: Mark Pavelich....Back then I thought he was crazy for giving up hockey to go fishing in Minnesota until I went there and saw the place. Now I understand why he did it. It's a great place. I hated leaving there.
