Gaudreau will be 29 by the time next season starts. I'm not giving him anywhere close that AAV on a long term deal.
I'd give him (if I were inclined to sign him which I'm not) a 5 year 10 mill deal. (that's 2 million per. I don't care about a 1 year 3 mil show me deal. He won't take that anyway)Gaudreau will be 29 by the time next season starts. I'm not giving him anywhere close that AAV on a long term deal.
Gaudreau is amazing and would love to have him, but just because you can theoretically afford that boat, and its really nice, doesn't mean you should, especially if you have a dilapidated roof to worry about.
Holy shit I didn’t realize he was that close. They have to pay Thachuk too and he'll get to 100 points in few games.
I'd like both! Bigger guys Nuke is a good two way guys doing well right now. Marchment has the edge to his game. Move the Tatar's, Johnnson's Etc. Get a guy like Husso to split with Blackwood and make MB earn his spot back, otherwise move on! Trade some futures/prospects for a guy likje Andrew Peeke (RHD) and lets go! Guys liek Forsberg and Fiala seem a bit too far to get. Nuke may be too, may have to settle for Burakovsky! But with Holtz coming up there is one shooter to go with the CsHughes is almost certainly going to have his ELC begin next year.
I'd like to see us acquire Nuke or Marchment but I'm not sure how reasonable the contract will be for the former. Having players on ELC's like Mercer, Holtz and Hughes for multiple years certainly helps us. We will also have our first from this year who should be on their ELC likely 4 or 5 years out.
Hamilton has been through many injuries this season and is still playing with the fish bowl.Hamilton's contract is going to be a disaster in 3 years.
0 goals. 4 assists. in his last 19 games played. Averaging over 20 minutes of ice time.
Devils could then afford to trade Bratt and recoup a lot of that value.
Well he is producing at a 42 point pace. Subban's best offensive season here was 19 points in 44 games and this year he's pacing for 25 points (22 in 72 games played to this point) and as a Devil he's produced 59 points in 184 games, which is just barely better than this year's pace. His first season here was his lowest scoring year and his middle season was his best. You would think even by accident someone of Hamilton’s talent could luck into more production though, especially while our other top players are swimming in points. Yeah I know he’s got excuses but right now I’m getting PK-type heebie jeebies from him.

Imo, it’s no coincidence that Hamilton’s production has dropped right after the injuries. No way this regression is natural, it’s clearly caused by lingering issues. He was playing incredibly well right before at the start of the season. If it carries on next year, I’ll be with you. The “excuses” are more causes than excuses, and imo it’s WAY too early to enter Subban territory discussions. You would think even by accident someone of Hamilton’s talent could luck into more production though, especially while our other top players are swimming in points. Like a different seasonThat OT goal against the Blackhawks seems so long ago now
It just feels so empty to have the individual success we wanted from our younger players (and then some) and STILL be struggling as much as ever team-wise. We've basically become the modern-day Atlanta Thrashers with Kovalsuck, Heatley and Marc Savard/Hossa lighting up scoreboards as the team loses games. Almost as if it takes more to win games than just high picks and more scoring. That OT goal against the Blackhawks seems so long ago now
