Just watching the Meier call. It’s pretty cool to see that he seems genuinely excited to be joining this team instead of what seemed like a hostage video (Hall).
Also nice that he doesn’t need to repeat the same cliches all new acquisitions have repeated over the past decade or so. From “yeah, I’m excited. Looks like a great young core. I’m hoping I can help the team take the next step,” to “yeah this is obviously a very good team, and I can’t wait to get started and do some damage in the playoffs.”

I was only listing NJ’s original picks, not ones we traded for, but yes, two out of three of the firsts we traded for ended being excellent as well.

i know how you feel about first round picks but its not the end of the world if we dont get one and its not the end of the world if severson leaves for free in the summer esp. your all about chemistry and you want to ship out the longest tenured guy right before the team heads to the playoffs. talk about bad optics.

a shero trade was him sculpting lou’s festering shit into pottery to be sold. anyway shero, thanks for drafting Z and not wasting a 3rd round pick on Scott Adams, an all american boy who would’ve played 8 total nhl games.
We for sure have room next season to sign Bratt and Meier to 8.5M AAV contracts. We also have to re-sign Tatar, Rango, Boqvist, McLeod, Bastian up front. I can't see how we afford Wood. We may also have to rely on Holtz playing and bringing up Foote, Clarke or similarly priced players to round out the 14.
On defense we have room to re-sign Graves if reasonable (4M AAV?) and re-sign Bahl. We'd likely have Nemec or Hughes included too on ELC. Severson I love but can't see how to fit him in.
Happy with Vanacek and Schmid in net.
With the frigging 2.5M of dead cap from Schneider, Kuokkanen, and ILYA F'ING KOVALCHUK it can all still be done leaving about 200-400k in cap lol

Horrible post considering I very clearly said it would be stupid to sell just Severson for futures multiple times. This would be about lineup balance. Jensen plays some of the toughest minutes in the league with elite results over the last few seasons.
Anyway, we were able to get Meier precisely because we had all of our 1st round picks and even an extra one to get Muk. Wow, what a concept!

It would look good now and look even better in 3 years when the cap has risen a good amount.
I know I shouldn't, but I do worry about the assumption the cap will shoot up. This Bally et al issue is not a good thing.

The move is Meier to 2nd line, Yegor to 3rd line, and Boqvist to 4th line. They won’t do it though. Jesper will get the short end of the stick.

The Jack and Nico contracts are really the key.
If they were free agents today they probably get 12+ and 9+ million dollar deals respectively.

Literally all you do is make sarcastic posts with zero substance whatsoever. You watched a trade involving potentially 3 1st round picks and continued your very intelligent belief that 1st round picks don’t matter.
I think morale would be okay considering we landed the best player available and would be adding another proven quality dman in my crystal clear proposal. In your rush to hip fire a sarcastic jab about 1st round picks, you missed that I guess.

Swapping Meier for Yegor there just looks so great, really rounds out the top 6 nicely
