They know NJ isn’t going away. They can take the NJ offer close to thr deadline if they want so they can try to get another team to offer more in thr meantime. I’m skeptical that Carolina or Buffalo want to pay Meier market price. That may be NJ’s advantage.
I want Timo, but I want him at the ‘Fitz price’. Fitzgerald has proven to be an excellent talent evaluator when it comes to making trades, so he has the benefit of the doubt in my book for the price he’s willing to pay.

I’m confident he’ll make a solid offer that won’t compromise the talent pool for the long term.

Im more worried about what we pay Bratt and (if we got him) Meier!

The cap cant be renegotiated, but you can always add back assets!

Sharks most likely waiting to see if some teams besides us and Carolina want to get in to drive the price up

I think they're also not in much of a rush. The price three weeks from now is at worst the same as it is now, and at best it will go up if we or Carolina gets desperate. Grier has the luxury of waiting, the only risk is an injury.

Yeah .. giving up Mercer would be a non-st
Mercer, Nemec and Luke better not be messed with.
Yep .. those guys are non-starters when it comes to trade pieces.

Not necessarily. Some teams may get impatient and go alt routes like the Rags did. Then again, that could limit the options for bidding teams, so maybe I'm wrong.

If, say Vegas got Kane and the Wild got Boesser, I guess it would leave us and the Canes bidding one Meier. With no viable plan Bs it might cause one of us to do something stupid.

True, but the Sharks know we most likely aren't switching to a plan B anytime soon so it makes sense for them to wait as at worst they still end up with whatever we are currently offering

The contracts aren’t really a problem, we just have to take random AHL fodder back.

If Buffalo wanted to bid against us that’s a real big problem because of the massive pile of assets they’re sitting on.

Not sure they’ll have any interest in spending that on a winger now. Hard to say.
Sharangovich is going through meh season, and he will ask money. He is 24 already. and their rebuild is only beginning. If there will be good offers and they will, Fitz needs to send two prospects or even may be three. i don’t think they are ready to send 2-3 more players back.

We are not talking about two(plus pick) for two trade when devils will start to beat other offers. 1st+Holtz or shakir +Yegor is easy beatable by Buffalo. Or Carolina can make a bet and offer Morrow and who knows how SJ rank this players. When we talking about this trade, I think we are talking about best offer from us and I don’t see Yegor as a part of best offer.

They could use Gritsyuk, he is unsigned, but I think Fitz wants to save him for obvious reasons. I don’t think SJ have interest in Casey, they could draf him but prefer the same type of a player with Havelid.

I can’t imagine other teams will not offer something big and interesting, so I think Fitz will have to send Holtz/Gritsyuk+Shakir/Vilen+1st(may be even a couple)+something more. I don’t know how SJ scouts think about our players. May be they like Filmon more than Holtz and Gritsyuk, may be they sleep and in their dreams Bahl is our best asset and their future defensive core piece who knows.
I’m just telling that devils need to send two or may be even three young players to beat other offers and I don’t think SJ are in position to take 24 yo middle six player. or they should send two more players back. And I don’t think they will do it for Sharangovich himself.
