I’d argue defense isn’t even his biggest issue. Sire he’s not great but I think he’s passable. The penalties are where you get his negative value

Thankfully, Fitz got him a solid defensive partner to compliment his offense.

I don't see how its not Heiskanen or Pettersson . Nico has been great, but he's not at that same level. He is likely #4 though.

Robertson and Thomas are the two who’ve been recent risers.

Robertson is making his own Hart case this year.

Remarkable that 2017 was seen as a weak draft class. May turn out to be one of the strongest recent draft in terms of top end talent.

The more I think about it, the Meier situation is starting to remind me of the Gaudreau sweepstakes.

Devils might be fortunate if they "lose" out to another club.

Seems like a lot of resources spent on one player if there are more players in the pipeline who have yet to crack the lineup (and would be far cheaper).

team has a window with jack and nico team friendly deal and you would assume luke and nemec on ELC in the coming years. if there is a time to tie it all together it would be sooner not later. outside of hughes/nico/bratt the next forward in goals has 11 in 51 games.

It seems like every time an “insider” brings up Meier, the Devils are the first team they talk about each and every time. Obviously they’ll go on to mention other teams too, but the Devils are always the first part of the discussion.

I don’t think those guys were specifically linked to the Meier talk…it seemed like more of an aside about other teams approaching the Devils. But yeah, agreed, the Sharks can have all 3 and then some if they want

If someone wanted to give a mid-round pick for Walsh, the Devils should take it. He needs a new organization for himself that has an NHL path for his skillset.

Yeah, Hughes/Nemec aren’t moving, that much is clear.

While I like this determination to not get outbid, I worry that it could drive the price up exorbitantly if Buffalo or Carolina comes in with an offer specifically designed to make us top it and overpay.

Meier is probably worth it for most packages we've been talking about here, but there is a point where the price is too high and we should walk away.
