Meier or nothing for me at this point, I've mentioned guys like Reinhart and Buch but I rather see what the youth does come playoff time. Duclair might be a sneaky add since Florida has to do something with him coming back soon off LTIR.

Is this a legitimate source?

Looks like it was some comments from the agent during an interview. I'll try to find that, but here's the pertinent blip from the article:

Boeser’s name has been linked to many trade destinations, but the Devils and Wild make the most sense. His agent, Ben Hankinson, told Postmedia on Monday he continues to help the Canucks hockey operations department find a destination and that he has talked to New Jersey and Minnesota.

Hankinson also said those clubs have shown interest, but there are a lot of moving parts.

Nothing particularly concrete, I'd still think Boeser is a Plan B for a lot of teams if they can't land their top target(s).

Sore back from carrying the team

That is medically, properly termed as:

"Team on Back-itis".

Previous player who was diagnosed this was Hall and also Kovy some time ago.

One might call it "Kovalchuk Broken Back Syndrome". Some say Cory also suffered from this in his glory days.

Same. Literally has put me in a bad mood. If we end up with Boeser as our deadline addition and the Rags and Canes add one or more of Meier / Kane / Chychrun / O’Reilly / Tarasenko , I will honestly lose my shit.
Why pay assets to get a slow , injury prone , 20g 40 point winger that can’t keep up to our pace of game ? It’s Johnson all over again.
Sad thing is , I can see use miss out on Meier and add Boeser as Fitz won’t go rental route - Tarasenko etc.
So I can see us add Boeser and someone like Jeannot (Jeannot wo make me feel better , but the situation still sucks )
If we add Boeser and Anderson….. I think I will take a little break from watching , until I can settle down lol.
Thats underselling boeser, who historically has been much better than a 20-40 guy on a rate basis.

He’s not incredible or anything, but he’s a finisher and pretty good on the PP and if we were getting him for Miles wood money? Yeah sure why not.

Timo or not, I think we absolutely need some bottom 6 help.

Something is wrong with Wood, and Bastian might not be healthy either. We need fresh troops down there
Yeah been beating this drum for a while. If we’re not gonna play Holtz etc over wood, we need a guy or two who maybe we will play to improve that part of the lineup

I think if Yegor had played in Boeser's position next to Petersson he'd probably have more points but would actually be defensively responsible.

Oh... and he'd cost 1/3 as much.

It's sports fan nature to hype yourself into something. It's sports forum nature to go on an unhinged rant when you get disappointed.
Oh please. @Bleedred has never gone on an unhinged profanity filled tirade about how much Blackwood has disappointed him.

I’m worried for well being of some of my fellow posters here if we don’t get Meier. While the fit is good, there’s going to be quite a few potential suitors and he may end up elsewhere. Prepare for the worst and hope for the best.

Eh, we've lost out on great players before. I think from the standpoint of fit and team building, he makes the most sense and would hurt a lot since he'll probably land in the Metro.

Those ice times are insane. Looking back on it, maybe "Kovalchuk plays the full 2 minutes of every PP" wasn't the best idea, even though I would guess that most of us loved it at the time.

That's not where he got that ice time, it was because DeBoer thought it was smart to let Peter Harrold or a 7th dman dress and then have Kovy play 1st, PP1, PK1, 4th line minutes. He treated him like a 1D instead of a 1LW

I get that we will have to wait and see how it shakes out . I’m sure there are other teams interested in him , and if we miss out , then I’ll get over it BUT …….. if the return is = to something that is less value of our pick , Holtz , someone like Shara/ Muk / Foote / Stillman etc. THEN I’ll be very pissed. Livid if he goes to Ragas or Canes and will completely lose my marbles and we waste assets in a panic move and get someone like Boeser or Anderson. Ya people can make arguments that in a vacuum Boeser is “not bad -good” but he is not what we need . Id way rather use Holtz in that spot (at a way cheaper cost and zero assets given up) I would rather do nothing or add a veteran D / bottom 6 guys than waste assets , cap , roster spot , on a player that is not a good fit.
Honestly , the thought that it is possible and rumoured pisses me off. Going through almost a decade of sucking , then finally be rewarded with an awesome young team , finally get into the playoffs , het all excited to add a piece that could make us serious contenders for years , and we miss out on that and instead shart ourselves with a gigantic wet fart Boeser or Anderson would be a kick directly square to the testicles

I absolutely agree... however, it relies on how SJ views Holtz. If they don't like him as much as whatever is offered by someone else, there's really nothing we can do.

Yea and like we all said and made each other promise during the winning streak to start the year. The only goal is to make the playoffs, no one should be planning or thinking about the cup......

I'll file these together in the T file, for "too far gone to not have everyone lose their damn minds if things don't happen the way they hope."

I can’t see Fitz interested in Boeser. Our strength is out transition game. And according to this, Boeser‘s transition game is crap.

This was a wild time but nothing better than seeing ur super star on the ice for half the game and the whole 2 minutes on the powerplay

Ding ding ding! Exactly. Maybe we technically offer “more”, but maybe SJ likes another package more.

Changing expectations mid-season is always a recipe for disaster. Making the playoffs is still the goal. I’d be extremely happy with a series win.

I know Holtz has struggled this year, but him being a PPG player in the AHL at his age must be worth something to the Sharks. They may not be as down on him as we are.

I also think there are very few teams where so many necessary factors to swing this deal line up: "expendable" assets that are as good as Holtz, a serious chance at the playoffs such that they are deadline buyers, and the cap space to fit Meier on an extension.

But this takes time. With probably the biggest name on the trade market, Grier can wait to let a bidding war play out, and probably wouldn't accept our offer at this stage unless it was crazy overpayment. So in that sense, I'm somewhat glad it hasn't happened yet.

Changing expectations are inevitable when a team we thought was a bubble team at best is sitting comfortably in 2nd place after 50 games.

It's also an important learning experience for the team to learn how to play with the fact more is expected of them.
The expectation for the team to me is to make the playoffs and not get destroyed like in 2018 in round 1. We aren’t a Cup contender yet. We’re close, but expecting much more than winning a round this year isn’t fair to one of the youngest cores/groups in the league just turning the corner. I guess anything can happen though.

To each his own though. I just don’t like changing my expectations.
