Took a big shitz for Nemec
Don’t know how much I can share, but this is loaded with our guys:
5. Shak
7. Holtz
11. Our 2023 first
13. Foote
16. Gritz
Hon mention: Bahl, Casey, Daws/Schmid and Okhotiuk.
30 points and 14 goals sets tbe records for both goals and points in franchise history. Hughes got 32 games left
It's combination of likelihood the player gets moved and interest/value to other teams. Pronman thinks Mukhamadullin is a top 4 defenseman who is blocked here with Hughes and Nemec, so he's more likely to get moved. He questions whether the Devils would move on from the 7th overall pick in 2020 already.very interesting that Muk is above Holtz

it will be tight he can't afford a slump thats for sure. its really remarkable what hes doing with the help* hes getting. after nico and bratt the next goal scorer is hamilton at 13 next devil forward is mercer and shara with 11. this team needs more depth at the top. shara/tatar are big meh30 points and 14 goals sets tbe records for both goals and points in franchise history. I’d also be ok moving Holtz for Meier, but i think it’s possible we regret it as early as next season. Holtz could be a dirt cheap 30+ goal scorer as soon as he gets ice time, and Meier will bring a cap crunch along with him.
But Meier is pretty much exactly what this team needs. He’s a good puck carrier and he has some playmaking skill, but he’s a brilliant netfront power forward/garbage man. Was listening to the PDOcast this morning and it got me really excited for how well he would fit in the top-6.
Yeah I think it’s us too and not particularly close.Speaking of prospect stuff, Scott Wheeler hasn't listed us in his prospect rankings yet and he just put CBJ at 3 today. It's either us or the Wild at 1. I'm assuming it's us with the addition of Nemec last year.
a little curious if he counts Boldy. He’s young enough, but Wheeler is making case-by-case judgment calls on whether a player is a full-time NHLer or not. If Boldy doesn’t count, we run away with #1 i think.wallstedt is a huuuuuuuuge lift to the minn pool, as is rossi, but what other huge pieces do they have? yurov? khusnutdinov?
Probably sometime during his age 23 season. The slow start really killed him but he’s up to a .81 career wiseQuestion for the board: when do we think Jack hits a PPG for his career stats (assuming health)?
For the sake of discussion let’s say he hits 100 pts this year, that’ll put him at 208 pts/248 games played which is ~69 pts/season and is pretty damn impressive based on his counting stats in years 1 & 2.
I say he does it by the end of the ‘24/‘25 season. It’ll take two 102 pt seasons and goddamnit I think he’ll do it.
thank you for clarifying what “possible” meansyeah he could be and he could not be. give me the known let the sharks take the risk on what holtz might or might not become. this team needs legit proven nhl talent.
69 pts/season. pff. Defenseman Makar started and play as 1 ppg player. Clearly bust pick.Question for the board: when do we think Jack hits a PPG for his career stats (assuming health)?

I would easily move Muk for someone like Meier.I do think it's time to start moving some of these AHL guys out. It's been a few years for some of these guys in the system. If you don't see a path for Reilly Walsh and Nolan Foote to be regulars with the Devils, then move them for value or else they're just going to walk the first chance they get.
That being said, I'd certainly rather not move Muk or Grits now unless it's absolutely necessary. Not only do I think Holtz has more trade value, but I'm more eager to move off him.
NHL prospect trade board: Which top assets could contenders move at the deadline?
Ranking the top prospect trade chips that contending teams have heading into the 2023 NHL trade deadline.theathletic.com
Pronman ranks top young assets that may be available at the TDL. Luke and Nemec are excluded as he can't see either being on the market.
Odd list overall - has Muk 5th, Holtz 7th, Bos/Car/NJ/Tor 1st round pick 11th, Foote 13th, Gritsyuk 16th.
NJ seems to be the team most represented, which isn't a surprise given the depth of our prospect pool.
Looks like the Devils are top-2 in prospect pools along with Minnesota, according to Wheeler. Curious to see what Wheeler thinks of some of the more marginal players in the system, particularly Foote and Thompson (TT may be too old, not sure). I’ve pretty much written off both at this point, but Zetterlund turning the corner at 23 gives me a spark of optimism.

A lot of his offense comes from the PP and we’ll have other options there.
He’s going to be a work in progress. We already have to break in Luke and Nemec.
I don’t see how we can have Muk in the NHL very quickly and I kind of doubt he would be particularly enthusiastic about slow cooking in the AHL either.
Not saying he wouldn’t do it but it’s not ideal.
Walsh isn’t really a tradable asset with value at this point and Utica needs him.
The weird part about this is Pronman limited it to “contenders”, which he defined that as teams with “a five percent chance or better of winning the Cup based on Dom’s model”.
It’s a little weird not including the Rangers, Flames, Jets, Vegas, etc but whatever.
Anyhoo, also listed 22 more assets alphabetically after the numbered list of 17.
We had 5 of the 22:
Bahl, Casey, Daws/Schmid (combined as one), Okhotiuk and CAR/ EDM/ NJ’s 2nd Rd picks
So we had
4 players & our 2023 1st in the Top 17
[#5, #7, #11, #13, #16]
plus 4(5) players & our 2023 2nd in the HM 22
Carolina had
3 players & their 2023 1st in the Top 17
[#1, #11, #12, #15]
plus 4 players & their 2023 2nd in the HM 22
(Note: 1/ No f***ing way on earth Carolina trades Kochetkov after signing him to that sweetheart 4 year/2m deal. Pronman has him at #15 but he’s borderline untouchable with that contract.
2/ I don’t really see Carolina moving their top two defensive prospects for Meier either. The future of their defense is getting a little dicey as their top guys’ contracts start to run out. They arguably need those defensemen on their team or in a trade for defense more.)
Dallas
4 players in the Top 17
[#2, #4, #9, #14]
Zero in the HM 22
Toronto
2 players & their 2023 1st in the Top 17
[#3, #11, #17]
plus 2 players in the HM 22
Edmonton
2 players & their 2023 1st in the Top 17
[#6, #8, #10]
plus 1 player & their 2023 2nd in the HM 22
(Note: Their 1st is #6 because it’s worse.)
Colorado
Their 2023 1st in the Top 17
[#6]
plus 2 players in the HM 22
Boston
Their 2023 1st in the Top 17
[#11]
plus 3 players in the HM 22
Tampa
Zilch in the Top 17
plus 5 players in the HM 22

At least they’re physical in practice. Not as good as in the game though.
