While it’s very important, I think up to a certain point skating has become a little overrated.

86 is a better skater than Bedard, but Bedard is already the superior player.

Even if 1v1 Brady for Bratt is a net neutral, I’ll take the more physical player knowing what we know now about this team’s weaknesses.
No he isn’t. He’s better than the injured shell of Jack Hughes I guess.

"Jack Hughes doesn't make anyone around him better" is certainly not a thing I was expecting to see on a Devils forum....sheesh.

Sure, maybe THIS broken down version of him isnt that, but if you don't think he's injured, you aren't paying attention. He has not taken one single faceoff since coming back from this latest injury. Why would they suddenly make that change? He was pacing at like 1.5 ppg the first half of the year, do you think he just forgot how to play?

I think this team lacks depth as it is. I much rather make a trade that takes fewer pieces.

If hypothetically we could trade one winger for winger...I think that leaves us in a much healthier position. Than a large package.
I think our pipeline is already too depleted.
Bratt is a good player and he is making his impact when we are not even good. We don’t know how exactly Brady fit. Again - 7 years against 3/4. Overall I just think we should invest in real 3rd line center who can play second line role. Haula is a good complimentary piece but he isn’t good second line center now, he is cheap, everything is okay. And we need 2nd pair LD. We don’t need to trade Bratt, Mercer, our first for this pieces. Complimentary forecheckers for third line and for fourth line can be signed from market. May be even 2nd-solid 3rd pair LD and 2.5-3 C can be signed from market too.
If we want we can sign ex Carolinas defenseman and deal Siegs/Marino/Dougie in the trade year or two years after if we need to free cap space(extreme but still an option).
Sign Mercer on a two year bridge, sign Henrique, Noesen, Trenin, Kulikov/de Haan/or trade Dumolin/McDonagh/Valimaki/Middleton(wild one, not british one).
And go with the flow of huge and working depth. With mortgaging the future for an old goalie or dream Brady scenario. Ottawa will not trade him. It’s more realistically to just sign him four years after on the market, or just watch how he will join his brother as he wants more likely.

DuMoulin is the best in miles. But its not like he is easy trade target.
Would be great to trade Harley, if Dallas wants to cash in other players, but I don't see any real opportunity to make it happen.
We don't know what kind of plan Arizona and Minnesota have for Valimaki and Middleton. Both are interesting targets for a trade. Shouldn't be very expensive.
De Haan and Kulikov are very good UFA options for third pair role.

Wpg will not trade Schmidt most likely, but may be they want to sign Monahan and some other players, woukd be a great trade target too.

Dumolin and Schmidt should be expensive.
I would like Kuli back he can park his RV outside the rock
dehaan must be 50 years old right_
cant see dumo coming available and FA stinks except for skjei

De Haan is 32-33 yo. He is veeeeery solid this year and previous year. And he is cheap. Perfect candidate for 3rd pair role. Played 16-30 5 on 5 TOI and 1-50 SH TOI, one of the best defensemen in HDCA and SA per league. Was very solid year ago.

hype/60.

Overall he is pretty good for what chicago can show. Of course there are a lot to adapt but he did great things for 18-19 yo player.
Exactly. He’s produced on an awful team. He’s their leading scorer, point a game, missed ten games or so and has a broken jaw still healing.

And he did it with worser players, made their stats really better.

I would still give Calder to Faber.

Agree on both counts. He’s going to be something to behold. Chicago fans are already thrilled and justifiably so. If they get celebrini they’ll have a better version of Hughes Hischier at 1C and 3C

Celebrini looks little but better as offensive producer, little bit worser as positional zone protector. Would be interesting to see how he will do in NHL. I like Hischier compare A LOT. I was thinking the same, was thinking it was my own specific vision of the player. You upset me, I'm not as original as I thought I was.

Anyway I see some stuff Jack do that Bedard never did. But he is making other things.

He has been their seventh defenseman on many occasions. And I don't think Dumoulin is particularly good anymore.

Yep. Celebrini isn’t the full ice sheet complete player that Hischier seemed to be right out of the gate, but he definitely is not just a one trick player either. He’d be a great complement to Bedard there

Jack skates better than Bedard and it isn’t even close. He does magical things with the puck whereas Bedard seems like he’s doing nothing and somehow this guy who isn’t that fast or that dangly is by you and scoring

i actually wanted dehaan back then when he left the isles .. always been good

Yes but I freaking loved it. It was perfect for the nonstop drama of that season
they should just give max the championship already.. its getting ridiculous

You have wrong info about both Dumolin and De Haan.

Why are we even discussing trading Bratt for Tkachuk? Realistically a better trade package for everyone involved is our 1st(top 10 pick), Mercer, Holtz & we can even throw in our 2nd. We even have Casey available. I think Ottawa would prefer the 1st Mercer Holtz package over a Bratt package just like we would prefer it. They get 2 nhl ready now wingers to play in the top 6 & get a top 10 draft pick out of it. They want Casey (I know half of you claim Casey is untouchable but I beg to differ, they can have him too) I don't see how we wouldn't be able to land Tkachuk if he was truly available for trade.
YOU brought it up earlier!!! What are you talking about?

Haha in my original post I didn't bring up trading Bratt. My original post was talking about trading for Tkachuk using 1st, Mercer, Holtz, 2nd. Someone else commented after me saying let's do Bratt 1 for 1 (which I said I would do) but I would much rather offer this big package I first proposed for him.

lol the collective fan base by large majority has become so blind and arrogant that you can’t even admit that your golden boy isn’t what you hoped he would be. The so called injured shell can’t make a simple safe pass to save his life let alone shoot like Bedard. Even 18 year old Bedard’s stick skills are superior.

You people are so insufferable. Watch Bedard and how he makes players around him better. Jack doesn’t make anyone better. Why do you think we have such hard time finding him wingers? The best players don’t need their teams to find wingers. They just make anyone better.

It’s frankly sickening how much mental gymnastics gets done to justify his shortcomings. You don’t agree fine, just sit back and watch how Bedard will outscore and out-everything 86 in the coming years.

Maybe 86 isn’t even that injured!? Maybe that’s why they haven’t shut him down.
Bedard this....Bedard that....

Are you in the right place?
