Sal definitely brings some good stats to the table at times.

And I'll point to those stats arguing against some of the public stats.

Meh, bigger problem on this board imo is the heavy handed use of xGF%.

Nevermind that some of those same posters will then ignore it in calling for Ruff's ouster.
You’re right, the bigger problem is fans using xG, not the fans who criticize it without knowing what goes into them.

I don't think Toffoli will get a first...but I'm thinking something like Toffoli for:

2nd + Matyas Sapovaliv from VGK ?
Something around Kaliyev from the Kings?
Pick + Ponomaryov from Canes?

vancouver is supposedly interested, but they have neither a first or second this year. I have no idea what they would offer.

Can something be considered around Toffoli and Spencer Knight? Would Florida have interest in Toffoli? They seem far more interested in defense....so unless we are giving up Marino for Knight, not sure that's going to be a fit.

At this point, just cash in on the UFAs and call this season a loss with all that went wrong.

I wouldn’t hate if the Devils used assets for Toffoli, Nosek, Miller, etc. to acquire Markstrom this season either since that would fill a long term hole.

If Guentzel is not on the market than Toffoli is the best forward out there. Most goals and points so hopefully gets more than that especially since his cap hit 50% retained is pretty reasonable too.

I'd be surprised if Spencer Knight holds that kind of value, he seems more like a buy low candidate than spending real assets for because his contract will need to be moved if Florida wants to keep some of their pending UFAs.

Honestly, I don't mind gambling on Knight at the cost of a 31 year old rental winger. He probably doesn't have that value to be perfectly honest, I just think the gamble isn't the worst thing even though the money could be tough the next two years. That's probably the hardest part of it.

I don't think that Toffoli will get a first, but obviously I have no real idea. There's already been mentioned of several teams interested it seems like, so maybe the demand can drive the market.

I just think even if Toffoli doesn't get a first (which hopefully he will but we'll see in a couple days) it'd be better to a trade for picks/prospects instead of Knight. I think Knight if the Devils actually want him is something you'd try in the offseason for like a minor prospect. Reinhart, Forsling, Montour are all UFAs next season along with Lundell being an RFA (and then a bunch of other more minor guys being UFAs) so don't think Florida can demand a whole lot for him when he has a 4.5 cap hit with 2 years remaining on top of that.

That makes sense.

Also it would involve getting rid of Vitek as well. Can't carry both Vitek and Knight at those hits. Can only gamble on one reclamation project lol

Ya also you'd only need 1 or 2 teams to value Knight for the cost to go up from minor lol but then at that point the Devils probably should be out for a more proven goalie because it'd be curtains for a lot of the front office staff if he comes here and struggles with a bigger trade value/his cap hit

86 would have to come back next year with a new attitude, a new body, and a completely changed mindset to have any redemption at this point. He is an embarrassment to this franchise with his hubris and inability to come up big in any actual crucial moment.

I don’t care at all about the injuries. You say you’re healthy then go play up to your “standard”.

He disgusts me and I’m done with him.

Jack Hughes was probably the best player in the series against the Rangers.

Too bad for him there were no big moments there.

If he didn’t play through his injuries you’d probably say he doesn’t have enough heart.

The off the wall criticisms are getting wild.

I guess he’ll have to get that “new body” in the off-season.

Given Nemec, and I think Miller as 3rd pair guy, would anyone trade Marino?
So I mentioned this earlier in the last thread that there's a potential opportunity if they wanted to do that. Lots of moving parts. you're not selling off Marino for prospect / pick, think you're trying to restructure the current roster with that type of move. So you have to find a team that has the right return for you, which isn't easy.

Also, I'm not sure that Miller is the guy I want as the third RHD.

Tanev probably is too expensive, but I'd look in on him and that's probably more of the type I'm looking for. Roy is probably too long term and expensive. Maybe a Demelo? Hankanpaa may be a pretty good option for that?
