And of course I know some pairings work better than others. But siegs was dogshit with Dougie this year before Dougie went down, too. It’s not just a personnel match issue. It’s a system issue, too.

I don’t think any team with Luke and Nemec and Bahl playing a ton is doomed to be bad defensively, unlike Jim.

I do think our system is not designed to best utilize their strengths and really hurt them (and the overall team) this season.

And also our goalies couldn’t stop a cat from taking a bath.

:lol: the way her thoughts spilled out it almost seems she thinks Ullmark is a top 5 player of all time. I know that’s not what she meant.

Also, her suggestions of Nemec for Ullmark is nuts.

Ullmark is a really good goalie but 31 year old really good goalies don’t get 20 year defenseman who are on a growth curve to be dominant at their position. The goalie doesn’t even come close to the defenseman in value.

What exactly did Graves lead the defense in, again?

I wish they would have announced these Prague games with a little more notice for people who wanted to travel over there for it. They announced it like last week and tickets are already going on sale. I'm on the fence about it because there are other places I'd rather go.

I'm not saying coaching/usage/etc don't play into it. Like with any change of this magnitude, there are multiple factors at play. But he covered for Graves last year, and Graves is not particularly better defensively than Luke Hughes according to any stat you like.

"But he's a VET," yeah and he's also a moron who thinks he's Bobby f***ing Orr.

And Marino has looked like dogshit with every partner he's had this year. Bad with Luke, bad with Bahl, and even worse with Siegs. The common factor on every really bad pairing is Marino. If you meet assholes all day...

Idk wth happened to him. Marino has been really bad this season. Hopefully he gets back to last seasons form or they should be looking elsewhere and fast. Don't waste another season dealing with 2023-2024 marino.

Me too but I might be able to angle a fishing trip to Slovenia out of this if I play my cards right :laugh:

He hasn't been bad, his role changed....I was going to write this to @AfroThunder396 but I just didn't want to go down the rabbit hole...

But here...is what wrote and cut.


I'd prefer to see the GF also or at least GF%. Gives a better picture of usage... I think so anyway.

Of the 5 you chose, fewer Goals For were scored when Marino was on the ice than any other defender....also the fewest shots for and shots against were taken when Marino was on the ice of the 5... that's kind of interesting to me....I think paints s picture of a shutdown role....but he's no longer in that scenario... this year he's at the top of the list in shot for and shots against at the very bottom of 11 defenders in GF% at 39.81%

and I believe that is almost all usage and some of it on him for bad play....but largely a completely different role of babysitting.

You're not shutting anything down with Luke as a partner.
 
Rachel is an idiot. A few months ago I said something about her on my podcast and it made her way back to her. She blocked me then shit talked me on her Twitter and Instagram story... so I posted screen shots on Twitter... then she was in my DMs immediately trying to make an agreement with me that we just won't walk about each other. Then telling me I'm fine but my pod co host is problematic.
