You're right, why would the Devils want to play one of the few players on the team who can actually generate shots off of high danger passes playing with the teams best passer? Better to let someone else figure out if pairing Holtz with a high danger passer works out.

Decidedly not a figment of anyones imagination.
It's like looking at the deserve o win meter... the eye test has shown Holtz to not be very good and all those high danger chances mean nothing when they're pinned in their own end or he's giving away pucks... he's played up and down the lineup... he's been paired with Toffoli and Hughes and done nothing... in fact most of his production has come as a bottom 6 forward..

He's got 5 shots on goal in the last 5 games... sniper

Out of Holtz top 10 most common lines, only 1 features Hughes and only 1 features Toffoli, the same line.

They played 29.5 minutes together and had a CF% of 62%.

This CF% is surprisingly effectively tied for the best CF% of any of Jack Hughes’ top 10 line combinations. It’s a close 3rd best.

It's nothing like the "Deserve-To-Win-O'meter" because the "stats" I quoted are from someone who "Watches the Game" and manually tracks the plays - they are the full on ice results normalized for ice time (per/60). There are no assumptions being made like xG on what I presented.

As for your comment about playing with Toffoli and Hughes - someone already posted their TOI combined but Holtz has barely played with any of our top forwards, most of the time with Timo was when he was injured.

I do love the retort about how he as 5 SOG's in the last 5 games, like that is some relevant sample. Holtz is 4th in Shot attempts/60, unblocked shot attempts/60, and SOG/60 - behind only Jack, Timo, and Bratt.

I think people’s obsession with her needs to go away and people need to leave her alone.

Holy shit, nevermind lol.

The clip is somehow worse than the write-up leads you to believe.

According to her logic:
Tampa should have traded Victor Hedman for Ryan Miller. Miller won the Vezina in 2010!

I have to believe she enjoys whacking the hornets nest at this point, and honestly, good for her. We all need to find something that makes us happy.

I can’t even fathom what the point of this comment was, except that she worked Luke Hughes into it, and I think that kind of gives away the goat.

Moneypuck shows Holtz having even less ice time with Hughes...

Thanks! We are going to do a lot more of our Offsides episodes with are comedy/non hockey now with the Devils stinking and the offseason coming.
I like to listen offtopics too. It’s fun to listen to it as a background for a job. And of course it’s given much more personality to podcast lore overall.

The reason the Ullmark comment is so ridiculously bad is she’s talking about trading Nemec for a 30 year old goalie with one more year of team control.

Remember, that’s their TDL Recap, so we were supposed to trade for Ullmark even though we can’t extend him until the summer.

It’s just a short clip, maybe this gets better and they do discuss the issue of him being UFA who can’t be extended until the summer.

Because nothing could stop Ullmark for squeezing us for a ridiculous contract and/or just f***ing off as a UFA.

Acting like trading a young blue chip defensemen for a UFA goalie you can’t extend is an obvious no brainer is certainly quite a take.

Damn...12 years since this melee. I recall watching the video that Rupp linked a few years back - was interesting.

If you aren't depressed enough about how long ago it was.....since that finals run we've only seen 1 playoff series win and 2 playoff appearances. Awesome.

It will interesting to see how Jack responds. He was another level of whiny prima donna this year.
I'm sure he's very frustrated. That's going to spill over. If you think he's out there playing on one arm it's hard to call him a prima donna. He could have packed it in and probably should have but he's young and trying in what is a bad season for the team. it's on the team to make that happen though and their track record on that isn't great from the few glimpses we've had. Fingers crossed he is 100% for next season and can put this mess behind him.

If he does have surgery as expected the brutal part will be that he is unlikely to put on any weight this offseason
