If that's the case then Brunette needs to stay the f*** out of Broward. Guy has a target on his back for some reason.

Sorry @Bleedred

If I want a tropical vacation I’m heading down to the islands. Dominica, St Vincent and my all time favorite. St Lucia.

Edit: But I do like Key West very much. But that ain’t the real Florida lmao.

Fairly certain that LTIR doesn't work like that and that we don't get Bernier's full $4.125M in relief. Something to do with where we were at the beginning of the season when he was put on LTIR.

CapFriendly explains it in their LTIR FAQ, but this is how I feel when I try to fully comprehend it.

CapFriendly currently says that we have just over $2M in cap space, which I think is fairly accurate.

Brunette’s mistake was not staying in the spare bedroom at my parents’ house in Palm Beach. The golf course and houses are private so thr police can’t just patrol on a whim. I think the homeowners rules also exempt you from victimless crime laws if you are over 127 years old like half of their friends.

Wait you were kidding about me being a genius? Ugh.

Alright, this Brunette story is just wack now. Golf cart DUI?

Bruno, just stop going to Florida for vacation. Go somewhere else man. It's not working out there.

Your requirement of trading Mango makes an assumption we actually could do that. And if we need to do that teams are rightfully going to ask a high price to take him off our hands.

Huh? Why? SJ would easily take him as a dump if needed. His base salary is only 750k this year

You've been to Dominica? (As opposed to the Dominican Republic). I LOVE that place. It's just so... undeveloped.
Yes! If you love Dominica then Saint Lucia is a must. I stayed in Soufriere, at an airbnb. That was the real deal rain forest living next to the beautiful Pitons. The most beautiful location I’ve been too.

It has Ok off the roster, but includes Marino's salary.

I thought we had done some manuvering at the start of the season to make sure we got at least his entire LTIR accessable.

Yes, that's with OK off the roster but includes Marino.

We did some maneuvering at the start of the season to maximize the LTIR space available to the team (as well as something to do with bonuses for Nemec), but we would've had to have had the rest of the roster (excluding Bernier) salary at $82.5M to get the full $4.125M relief for Bernier and fell below that.

I wish that I could understand it better, as I really like figuring stuff like this out - but I couldn't totally wrap my head around how it all works.

I think the safest thing to do is go with CapFriendly's Deadline Cap Space number, which is $2,042,500.

The site also says that we are only using $990,887 of LTIR space, so maybe that's all we were able to get from Bernier at the start of the season.

Assuming the $2,042,500 number is accurate, we'd still need San Jose to retain at least a $1M or so of Meier's salary even if we're sending Holtz and Johnsson/Sharangovich the other way.

We were over on the eastern side - Calabishi, I think it was. At first it was a bit disconcerting cause there were no restaurants. There were families that you could ask to spend dinner with for a fee, and they'd cook extra for you.

There was a log book at the place I was staying where people wrote what they've experienced there. I wrote something like:
Day 42...
Had to boil sneakers for food...

Well, keep in mind Mango has a 10 team no trade clause (or something like that). Then again, it's hard to imagine he would give up playing in the NHL again for ANY team.

Yeah it’s a 10 team no trade list. I have a hard time believing he’d have Cali teams on it. Generally players always put the Canadian teams on there so there’s 7 teams already wiped out

Yup! It’s def a third world country. I went during the pandemic so nothing was open. But it worked out because I called the world famous resorts near the pitons and they were dying for guests. So I was able to eat at these world famous resorts without having to pay resort fees . Just our tabs.

My friends go to Rincon in Puerto Rico to surf. One guy we know moved out there some time ago.

One of my friends does the snowbird thing now and is in Jersey some of the year and down closer to South Florida on the East Coast (still a 4 hour drive or so from me). He would rather be in Hawaii, but it's a bit out of his budget at this time.

And then we got @Cage Helmet down there not too far from Sunrise with his grandmother. When he's not off gallivanting across the world or going on a surf trip himself.

I know when his grandmother is no longer living he's hightailing it to Oahu. That's the only thing keeping him on the mainland and he travels all over for work anyway.

We actually have another friend, he's my good friend's little brother. The one I've talked about babysitting when he was a kid and having to sit through Barney on PBS. His parents sold the vacant piece of property they owned next door to their house in Cape May and gave him I forgot how much out of the sale and he invested in a place out there and has been there for like 12-13 years now. And he's only like 35 now and has been there since his early 20's. I'm pretty jealous. They're both good buddies and they'll be out together at some point in this lifetime.

If I'm still living when that happens I'll probably have to beg him to fly out to Florida to go to Devils games with me down here.
