The bar is across the street from a beachside hotel (where I presume the couple are staying at). This is nothing

They knew as soon as they gave him thst ticket for parking illegally he probably had a few in him and as they story said just waited for him to come back. I doubt we see any serious repercussions

If they hadn't already reported that it was in Broward County, I would have bet anything that a golf cart DUI had to be in The Villages.
Getting a DUI in a golf cart is the most Florida shit imaginable.
I regularly have to move over into the grass when I'm going for my nightly walks, because someone is cruising the sidewalk in a golf cart on the main drag.

They also ride them around my neighborhood right on the street.

Definitely a Florida thing, although I hear it's pretty big in resort areas, like resort islands in the Caribbean and Hawaii. I wouldn't be surprised if it will soon be a Jersey shore thing in the summer, if it's not starting already.

I do know certain shore towns had golf cart rentals that families would rent and tour the island with (like on LBI) and they were so excited to be riding the golf carts, they would honk at everybody walking or driving by.

They have those down here by my work too. My first thought is always ''What's so cool about riding around in a big golf cart that you want everybody to see you?''.

27 is 27 and that's not fast.

And do we even know what the FL laws are for a DUI vs DWI? It can be as little a .04 in some states to get a DUI. He blew a stop sign it sounds like and that got him pulled over then rang up on a DUI which could be just having a glass of wine with dinner or it could be he was smashed. Until we know I'm not passing judgement. Could be the cop is a Panthers fan and wanted to job him for all we know.
It's 0.8.

Oh where I grew up in Jersey was a small neighborhood on the bay where everyone knew each other and partied all summer. Plenty of golf carts going around, and that was the late 90s.

Well that’s not nearly as bad as it originally sounded. Obviously still irresponsible but wasn’t likely putting anyone in serious danger unless he was absolutely shitfaced and swerving everywhere on the road or something.

I'd have thought more of him if he got it in a Zamboni

Whoops... wrote this as an answer in the Nemec thread, not realizing it was in the wrong place.

Anyway, I thought it would be appropriate here (Regarding what it would take to fit Meier under the cap currently)

We can spend:
Cap: $82,500,000 + LTIR: $4,125,000 = $86,625,000
Current total expenditure: $83,490,887 (includes everything - Johansson, LTIR and buyouts)

Subtracting from what we can spend:
Cap Space: $3,134,113

Soooo... if we trade away Johnsson:
Johansson cap hit: $2,275,000
Cap space after trade: $5,409,113

Add to that whatever other asset we send over... say it's Holtz and Muk. Since Muk isn't on our roster yet, it's just Holtz:
Holtz: $894,167

Total free space:
$6,303,280

Meier: $6,000,000
Cap Excess: $303,280

We don't need *ANY* retention. We *MAY* ask for retention so we can make a minor move - depth D, depth C, etc, but we don't NEED it.

Your requirement of trading Mango makes an assumption we actually could do that. And if we need to do that teams are rightfully going to ask a high price to take him off our hands.

We could also ask for 2M retained, but I guess that would cost us too.

It would remove the need for them to free up one of their 50 contract slots, I guess.

Fairly certain that LTIR doesn't work like that and that we don't get Bernier's full $4.125M in relief. Something to do with where we were at the beginning of the season when he was put on LTIR.

CapFriendly explains it in their LTIR FAQ, but this is how I feel when I try to fully comprehend it.

CapFriendly currently says that we have just over $2M in cap space, which I think is fairly accurate.

CapFriendly currently says that we have just over $2M in cap space, though that is without Okhotiuk on the roster (since he's in Utica now), so his cap hit may also come off of that. Not sure on that, but I do know we certainly don't have all of Bernier's hit to work with.

It has Ok off the roster, but includes Marino's salary.

I thought we had done some manuvering at the start of the season to make sure we got at least his entire LTIR accessable.
