I scrolled past the mugshot and thought it was Ovechkin.
What was our salary cap space/the cap that year?Did we have 7m for him?
I don't disagree. I've met people who think they're not alcoholics because they ''Don't drink EVERY day and don't NEED to drink every day'' but when they do start drinking they're out of control, trying to fight everybody, acting like a tough guy, trying to drive, slurring their words, drunk dialing people and saying nasty shit to them.I think a lot here are only thinking of the traditional depiction of an alcoholic that needs to drink every day to stop the shakes.
Even if you only drink on weekends but you’re still bingeing enough to make poor decision such as getting behind the wheel and not only endangering yourself, but others as well, that can absolutely be a problem too.
View attachment 644749So that's why it was 27 mph, Broward County is 15 mph. Equivalent to a 37 in a 25 ticket for those of us in NJ. It certainly seems like he's got a problem with cops in Broward County. I do wonder why ppl automatically say he's got a problem though. You certainly could be a drunk and need help or it could be an isolated issue. Having said that, I have zero sympathy for anyone who gets a valid DUI.
I'm a bit worried to be honest. For a long time, I said to myself that I can't die until the Devils are good again. Now that the Devils are good again I'm worried I'm going to be hit by a truck. We miss your regular contributions. Hopefully all is well with you.
Road soda's?I think I need to go to the liquor store.
As a ratio of the overage to the limit, it is more equivalent to 45 in a 25.View attachment 644749So that's why it was 27 mph, Broward County is 15 mph. I agree there's not enough to say he's got an alcohol problem. The only concerning factor to me (other than the drinking and driving) is that he chose to do it in a spot he's been busted for traffic violations before, one of those less than a year ago. Instead of calling an Uber, guy decides he can't get caught a third time, or just doesn't care if he's caught. So yeah, I don't think you need to be a daily drinker to have a problem, but I also don't necessarily believe this means Brunette has a problem.
Hopefully just a stupid decision on his part (and it probably wasn't the first time, I doubt anybody gets caught the FIRST time, unless they're REALLY f***ED UP) and hopefully it's the last time and thankfully no one was hurt or god forbid killed due to his negligence.
As an organization you force him to get help whether this is isolated or not. Because if it happens again, and you had a chance to intervene, but didn't, then as a publicly sensitive organization, you did a poor job.First and foremost, drinking and driving is not okay. No matter who you are. If you're worried you might have to drive while you've been drinking at some point, then it's easier to just NOT DRINK.
Drinking and driving is not okay, whether you're the president, a hockey coach, an actor, a cop, a lawyer, doctor or the guy next door. It's not okay.
That said, I don't think this would be the first time an active player or coach has gotten a DUI.
Perhaps I somehow missed a more in-depth story on this, but why is it being implied that he has a problem? There's plenty of instances where people have gotten DUI's, but don't necessarily have a problem abusing alcohol, but just made the bad decision of driving while under the influence. Or they made the decision way too many times and finally got caught, but I don't believe it's necessarily an alcohol abuse problem, although it definitely could be as well.
I just thought it was kind of strange that people have implied he needs to get help, but perhaps I missed some context?
Hopefully he doesn't have an issue abusing alcohol and at the very least this bad publicity is enough to cause him to never operate a vehicle while drinking again.
27 is 27 and that's not fast.As a ratio of the overage to the limit, it is more equivalent to 45 in a 25.
Hell, you could hit that after a shot of Nyquil.Florida is .08
What do you do? Send him to rehab even if he doesn't need it? Or are you suggesting some kind of like course that one would take on DUI or something? As an organization you force him to get help whether this is isolated or not. Because if it happens again, and you had a chance to intervene, but didn't, then as a publicly sensitive organization, you did a poor job.
27 in a 35 is slow. 27 in a 15 is nearly twice the limit.27 is 27 and that's not fast.
And do we even know what the FL laws are for a DUI vs DWI? It can be as little a .04 in some states to get a DUI. He blew a stop sign it sounds like and that got him pulled over then rang up on a DUI which could be just having a glass of wine with dinner or it could be he was smashed. Until we know I'm not passing judgement. Could be the cop is a Panthers fan and wanted to job him for all we know.
Locally for me the school zone is on a 25mph street but the zone is 15mph..27 in a 35 is slow. 27 in a 15 is nearly twice the limit.
Without knowing the details I can't say, but Devils need to look into it, and then go a little heavy as to what type of program he goes into. What do you do? Send him to rehab even if he doesn't need it? Or are you suggesting some kind of like course that one would take on DUI or something?
