I get an odd feeling this involves Fitz trying to get Helle. If he does (at full salary), there's no room for the three RFAs at significant raises.

Couldn’t care less about the McLeod and Bastian being unqualified. Boqvist is the one that irks me a bit. You have McLeod’s replacement at 1M for next 2 years, no need to cave to his demands. Bastian looked like a shell of himself post injury. Boqvist was on one of our better lines going into the playoffs with that Palat-Haula-Boqvist. They must have really high hopes Clarke can come in next year and be a zetterlund type on the third line. Prob think Boqvist lands in CBJ with his brother.

I'm comfortable going after guys like Acciari and Aston-Reese and rolling with a rotation of Foote, Acciari, ZAR, Lazar 4th line. Obviously just an example but you get the idea.

This beautiful boy would’ve been a perfect guy to plug in on the 4th line

f***ing finally…
The New Jersey Devils announced today that they have extended a Qualifying Offer to Kevin Bahl, a restricted free agent without arbitration rights.

Eight players have not been tendered a qualifying offer, and will now become Unrestricted Free Agents. Those players are as follows:

Nathan Bastian, Jesper Boqvist, Zachary Emond, Jeremy Groleau, Zackary Hayes, Timur Ibragimov, Michael McLeod, Aarne Talvitie.

In the case of Bastian, Boqvist and McLeod, all were RFAs with arbitration rights. The club will look to see if they can sign these players at a different number, avoiding an arbitration case that could result in a higher cost.

They signed Timur Ibragimov to a minor league contract in May so he’s staying! So don’t lose sleep over him anybody!

Talvitie signed with Liiga. I guess this is the end for Groleau.

I also guess the Jack Dugan trade was completely meaningless (that’s how we got Hayes) and big goodbye to random goalie who came in the Timo trade to even out the contracts (Emond)! We’ll all miss you, all the Zacharys!

It's pretty likely that Boqvist/Mcleod/Bastian are all back. i see there being some want around the league for some of them but nothing with enough interest for them to likely be gone.

I think it’s much more likely Boqvist and Bastian are back than McLeod. Unless teams are super scared off because of the HC stuff then I’m fully expecting someone to give him something stupid.

I think if they want to keep Mikey around, they need to have something in the hopper. I think if he legitimately hits the market, someone may be inclined to give something stupid (relative to what he is).

If someone gave Mikey 3 years, 2.5 on the open market, wouldn't be at all shocked.

Considering what Kampf just got, yeah. I want no part in that.

Yeah, Kampf is a great example of that.

Unless they already have something agreed on, I think that there's a good chance that we are going to get priced out of the Mikey market if we were worried about his arb case.

May be in the best interest of the team, to be honest. Team Canada looms large.

The players we didn't qualify are replacement level players. They all fit here so I'd like to keep them, but they are not irreplaceable.

I can see them still getting contracts.

Center is greater need, so that helps Boqvist. He can’t win a FO to save his life though.

My first thought was maybe he f***s off to Columbus to be with his brother but then I realized his brother might not be there for much longer lol.

Bastian might get interest with everyone looking for size. Maybe we try to get faster in free agency. (We didn’t seem to care that much about speed at the draft so who knows.)

I think at this point Bo’s primarily a winger who can play in the middle rather than a center

not qualifying mcleod is interesting

I don't think he's good, as I'm sure you all are painfully aware right now, but I think his profile provides enough value to risk his (probably pretty cheap) arb case.
