I would not be shocked if some team desperate for centers gives McLeod a silly contract tomorrow
I keep forgetting UFA actually is tomorrow lol...figures one of the few times it's on a weekend is when we really aren't looking for jacksquat other than maybe a new fourth liner or two now.

I know it's been a long time since the franchise has had players like McLeod and Bastian but I do not think either guy is going to leave UFA, this is how the process works now. The Devils non-tendered plenty of guys in the Shero era and most of them stayed put.

It's pretty likely that Boqvist/Mcleod/Bastian are all back. i see there being some want around the league for some of them but nothing with enough interest for them to likely be gone.
Mike Mcleod will get a lot of interest as a UFA. Teams want centers.

I get that they didn't want to pay the arbitration award...but no QO is really something. I like Bastian too.

Per puckpedia:

Why you are seeing a lot of players non qualified.

Under “Contract Filters” set “Expiry Status” to “UFA (no Qualifying Offer)” and you’ll see the lonely boys who got dumped.

(Studenic! Schnarr! We can get them back!)

BTW how did we get a pick for Blackwood when he was a more likely nontender than any of these guys, and we didn't get a pick for McLeod who people think will be overpaid lol. Maybe they'll legit try to sign him but I doubt he'll stay if one team does make the stupid Barclay Goodrow offer.

Couldn’t care less about the McLeod and Bastian being unqualified. Boqvist is the one that irks me a bit. You have McLeod’s replacement at 1M for next 2 years, no need to cave to his demands. Bastian looked like a shell of himself post injury. Boqvist was on one of our better lines going into the playoffs with that Palat-Haula-Boqvist. They must have really high hopes Clarke can come in next year and be a zetterlund type on the third line. Prob think Boqvist lands in CBJ with his brother.
The Palat - Haula - Boqvist line was effective, but to me Boqvist is not really the linchpin. He's a replacement level player.

His brother is getting shipped out of Columbus too.

Mikey and Bastian were two-thirds of an effective 4th line. Mikey especially will get a lot of interest in UFA. To me this says Fitz is just letting them go.

Bring back Mac!!

That BMW line was good for 2 months, sucked for a good 3 months then got their game back heading into the playoffs. Also pretty hard for a guy like Boqvist to look like anything when the coach had a hard on for that fourth line to the point he was scratching better players. Btw, did Lazar look out of place to you when he got in games? He didn’t to me where McLeod was a 1M-1.5M more of a difference

My guess is they tried to sign McLeod to a number they want right up until the deadline
