Xenforo Cloud will be upgrading us to version 2.3.5 on March 3rd at 12 AM GMT. This version has increased stability and fixes several bugs. We expect downtime for the duration of the update. The admin team will continue to work on existing issues, templates and upgrade all necessary available addons to minimize impact of this new version. Click Here for Updates

Doubt anything comes from it. He’s not getting 8 years and anyone that agrees to a contract with him can just wait a few days. Probably a 7th at most.

I wouldn't necessarily save a spot for Foote, but much like Zetterlund this past season he should have an inside track to a roster spot as I doubt he'd clear waivers if he doesn't make the squad. Given we also need some cheaper talent to fill out the roster, it would be disappointing if Foote doesn't make it.

I mean if these guys aren't part of the plan then a late pick is better than nothing, it's just good asset management by Fitz.
I'm sort of surprised we didn't trade Graves' rights, I figure he'll be sought after by quite a few teams.

Foote is gonna make it. Whether he has a great camp or not he will start on opening roster. In case people haven’t realized especially with these trade rumours lately, Fitz isn’t about losing assets for free.
Eh...might be worth a late round pick for an interested team to get a deal wrapped up early (particularly ahead of the draft) so that they don't have to potentially address the need Wood fills via trade or deal with the uncertainty that comes along with the free agent frenzy.

Just common sense from a business perspective. If you’re gonna lose something for free but can maybe get any small asset back first why wouldn’t you. Surprised we’re not hearing about more teams doing this kind of stuff

It's absolutely the right decision, but boy will I miss Miles. I wish him the best wherever he ends up. Boneheaded penalties and all, he was fun to watch when he was at his best.
Full credit to him for being a leader at the beginning of last year and saying that he knew the team was better than what they'd been giving in those first two games. He was a big reason for that early winning streak.

Maybe but I doubt it. If they can talk to him there’s no reason they couldn’t have a handshake agreement in place for the minute FA opens.

Right, there's teams with arguably better UFA's that are either just letting them walk or trying to sign themselves with there's no hope there. Like Dallas could get a pick or two for Max Domi and they haven't done anything with him. Just the idea that Fitz can rest of his laurels and just worry about Timo being his last big piece of business this offseason

I mean I doubt he’s anywhere near that. Still lots to do. Sign Timo, draft, sure he’ll still be actively exploring trade market, depth dman, 2-3 forward additions, maybe a depth goalie (with Daws hurt). He’s said and I’m he will be very busy still. He doesn’t seem to ever rest on his laurels.

Would he have to pass thru waivers? I know fitz has spoken highly of him, and do expect him to push for a roster spot, just don’t want to gift it to him.
Devils appear to have like 10/12 spots filled. (Hughes, Bratt, Hischier, Meier, Huala, Mercer, Palat, Mcloud, Bastian, Lazar) With guys like boq, Holtz, Foote, clarke all fighting for those last few spots… free agency and possible trades still to go as well.
Pretty hard to guarantee Foote a spot just yet. But if he earns it, I’m all for it

I think if Fitz is going outside the organization for a forward, they’re gonna be beefy.

He has to go through waivers. Also it’s 14 spots. So I’d say 11/14 spots filled including Foote. Then you have guys like Holtz and Clarke plus any new additions filling the final 3 spots. I’d imagine we add another 2 forwards (maybe even 3) and then it’s between Holtz and Clarke for the final spot (possibly Holtz’s to lose).
Huge difference given Blackwood is an rfa that we could qualify and no one could talk to.
