Nice lottery ticket for San Jose to get Blackwood for a 6th. If he continues to be injured/suck, who cares. You're tanking anyway and gave up a nothing asset. If he somehow gets healthy and reverts to being a decent 1B, that's found money.

I don't get why San Jose would qualify him at 3.4m though. If they do this and Blackwood's unwilling to agree to whatever contract they want they need to have the balls to walk away and look stupid.

That probably won't happen though and they'll give him a bad contract.

I haven't looked at capfriendly, but I would have to think that they need to take on salary to hit the cap floor regardless. Especially once Karlsson is out the door this summer.

So the higher qualifying number is probably a benefit to them if nothing else.

FWIW, that PLD to LAK knocks out another suitor and arguably the biggest one for Hellebuyck. Really hope we get a Timo situation where the Jets just come to us for a rental deal.

Any chance of a Graves and/or Wood trade for picks? We have two days...

Because they have the cap space and no reason not to. Low risk move for them with some upside if he turns things around.

I really like how we are essentially sellers right now, but not in the firesale tank sense, but because we got all new nice furniture finally and have no space for the old stuff. I love that butt curve created in the old lazy boy, but the new one has a cup holder.
Exactly. Getting back some assets just because some guys have been pushed out and become deadwood.

If we could get a mid or early 2nd in this draft for Sharangovich that would be nice. Bit of a recoup from the Meier late 1st traded. Which in a deep draft could get us a player worthy of a late 1st if we pick well. Need to keep some prospects coming in that could be valuable on their ELC’s in a few years.

Don’t know if it’s been discussed but how would people feel about Max Comtois as a middle/bottom 6 UFA addition? Probably pretty cheap and has some decent speed and size. Don’t honestly know a ton about him

I don't know where we put him. I don't really have concerns about the bottom six and I'd rather have Foote in there at that cheap contract. Would rather try and add a top six guy that may push someone out / off outright.

I wouldn't hate it, maybe not getting qualified will light a fire under him. But not sure if the team is intending to save a spot for Nolan Foote.
