One last thing to add to try and make this Monday morning after vacation enjoyable. I loved catching this wholesome moment from the broadcast after game 7 and was just happy to find that someone on Youtube picked up the final moments and that I could gif this accordingly.

Gotta love it.
Good guy Fitz man. Love this guy.

Huge huge Gallant fan. Without this goal he might be still the coach. It was not the first time management fcks up the season with TDL acquisitions, but firing Gallant was a mistake that could cost them much more.

What goes to the actual goal and Palat forechecking. Masterpiece.

One of the greatest individual efforts I've ever seen.

That's really such a shame his career ended the way that it did.

Silly little thing, I know, but nice of the organization to still have him around last year. He even dressed up for team introductions in the home opener last year, equipment and all! You have to figure he knew retirement was the likely move after the injury he had.

I was at work and when that goal was scored yelled so loudly I'm pretty everybody left in the building heard me.
I just remember feeling like that goal took a huge weight off my shoulders lol. I had little doubt we’d win the game after that one.

The Tatar goal after Marino’s rush was just the icing on the cake. I’ll always love that second goal because of the crowd reaction. When watching the replays (specifically the one with the goal cam) you can vividly hear the crowd go “ahhh” when Marino misses the net and then the huge roar when he gets it back in front and Tatar pots it home. Chills every time.

PTO season, Boston added Alex Chiasson today and Edmonton added Brandon Sutter. In most cases, PTOs are just a way for a team to hit the veteran minimum for road preseason games. CBA requires a team to dress at least 8 vets; F/D who played in 30+ NHL games in 2022-23, goalie who dressed in 50+ NHL games or played in 30+ games in 2022-23, or a player with 100+ NHL games, or a 2023 first round pick .

Vets bolded:
Meier-Hughes-Toffoli
Bratt-Hischier-Mercer
Palat-Haula-
Holtz
Nosek-McLeod-Bastian
Foote-Tierney-Lazar
Halonen-Thompson-Clarke
Filmon*-Bowers-Stillman
Dowling-Criscuolo

Siegenthaler-Hamilton
Hughes-Marino
Bahl-Miller
Smith-Foote

Hatakka-Nemec
Vilen-Misyul
Vukojevic-Wotherspoon

Vanecek-Schmid
Kallgren-Brennan [Daws injured]

We start off preseason with a split squad game, home against Philly and on the road in Montreal. Dunno if it'd be a good idea to add a PTO forward just to save a vet from making a roundtrip to Montreal.

Handful of guys lingering in free agency who probably have to settle for PTOs: Zack Kassian, Adam Erne, Austin Wagner, Tyler Motte, Colin White, Danton Heinen, Jujhar Khaira, Derek Stepan, Derick Brassard, Sam Gagner, Joel Kiviranta.

Looking at the rag tag group we sent to Montreal last year and it looks like we had the minimum 8 vets.

LW: Tatar-Foote-Johnsson-Laberge
C: Hischier-Boqvist-Thompson-Talvitie
RW: Bratt-Clarke-Halonen-Senyshyn

LD: Graves-Bahl-Okhotiuk-Vilen
RD: Severson-Walsh
G: Blackwood-Daws

Remember when we had Kaberle and Komisarek on PTOs?

what pissed me off more was the PTO stafford got after his shittastic 2018 season...and then bratt got hurt and we got this sack of crap for another season because of it

seriously .....what the f***?! ... shit, seney and augstino had a better season than he did in 2019

hated him on the team

Maybe a goaltender PTO would make sense? I'm not seeing much need at other spots at this point.

I was thinking PTO goalie possibly too, but I think the preseason slate is spread out enough where we can get by with just four.

9/25: vs PHI (Schmid/Kallgren), at MON (Vanecek/Brennan)
9/28: at NYR (Schmid/Kallgren)
9/30: at PHI (Vanecek/Brennan)
10/2: vs NYI (Schmid/Kallgren)
10/4: vs. NYR (Vanecek/Brennan)
10/6: at NYI (Schmid/Vanecek)

Although adding Halak on a PTO and sending him for that Montreal game might be something that could make sense.

Maybe MTL would be interested in Halak if he came with Ryder and a second?

I've stumbled upon a gold mine. Uploaded by a Ranger fan no less! Best quality of these games that I've been able to find. Unfortunately, Games 2 and 3 are the MSG crew of Sam and JD but it allows you to hear their sadness if that's you're thing.

I was at game 2 against of this series. Madden’s goal (short handed? from the penalty box?) is now and forever will be the loudest sporting event moment i have been a part of. And i’ve been lucky enough to see 300+ devils games, dozens of NFL and college football games, games in Cameron Indoor Stadium, etc.

Nothing had the pop that goal did.

Watching game 1 now and it’s funny that the broadcast crew is essentially a split Devils/Rangers crew with Doc, JD, and Micheletti

Wow, Josh Anderson scores 15 ES goals a season. That's almost Pavel Zacha level production, what a special player.
1)who said he’s a special player? Where are the strawman police?

2)Zacha has scored double digit 5v5 goals once in his career. Anderson has scored at least 14 5v5 goals 6 times in his career. A very bunk comparison.

As noted he has as many 5v5 goals over the last 3 years as Bratt, Marchand and Stamkos.

It's not a 'pretty easy call' because no one is double retaining for you without a serious payment, like a 1st round pick. This isn't double retention on a contract loaded with bonuses that's dealt at the trade deadline, this is keeping dead cap space and using a retention slot for 4 years in order to facilitate a trade.

I'm so glad to be rid of a player who just scores goals and is frustrating 90% of the other time with his decision making. Getting another one who is definitely on the downslope of his career would be madness.
Wait, are you saying an Anderson double retained for a 5th wasn’t actually on the table? Omg. Triumph with the breaking news.
