I agree, thought that was cool info, so thought I’d share. I personally don’t mind his content, but don’t want to upset anyone here lol.
Glad to see Jesper takes his mental health seriously. That stuff’s important!
Maybe it’s more of an off-season habit for him, a reset before the season, talking about his goals, setting objectives, putting things in perspective etc. Either way, I respect it. It certainly appears like it’s working for him. I’m pretty sure many players do this, more than we think at least.
I remember it being a story during his rookie season break out.
I heard Baseball is 90% mental. I think Hockey is even higher.
Semantics I think.Rereading everything, I think my post was a little off base. I think this guy is just more of a mental performance coach than a therapist.
I have no problem with it, but I also don’t think I’d consider it in the mental health arena any more than a guy that’s helping you improve your slapshot is improving your physical health.
But I'm not sure it will be much more then a 12 year window. Some days I remember that the Devils are good again and it brings a smile to my face.
love him
Lovejoy was speaking well of NJ towards the end there, not sure if he stayed in state or not.I always like hearing when former players end up settling in NJ when all is said and done.
Sykora makes a lot of sense considering how long he played here.
The most random of all the ones I know of is Henrik Tallinder haha
Semantics I think.
And definitely no problem with it. I don't think everyone needs it, but if you do, or even it's merely slightly helpful, why wouldn't you?
Im pretty sure Bratt had credited the therapist/performace coach for his rise out of nowhere.Rereading everything, I think my post was a little off base. I think this guy is just more of a mental performance coach than a therapist.

question at what point aren't the devils apart of this? or will they always be?
Wherever he goes it’s NJ.Lovejoy was speaking well of NJ towards the end there, not sure if he stayed in state or not.
I think there’s a real and important difference between seeing a therapist because of a clinical condition and seeing a mental performance coach because you think you can tack on a few more points in a season.Semantics I think.

Id advocate bringing Holtz in too.

I would put it in the same quackery bin as cupping and drinking cherry juice (or pickle brine!) and all the other things that athletes do to try to gain an edge.
It surely could have helped, even if only by placebo effect, but I doubt there’s much scientific evidence for it.
The last thing I want for Holtz is for him to start doubting his mental state.
you're doubting that there is evidence for hiring a sports psychologist type?
Yeah, lets just say I disagree.
Some days I remember that the Devils are good again and it brings a smile to my face.
For me I am reminded after every pathetic showing by the Yankees
The specialist wouldn't make Holtz "doubt his mental state"...I think there’s a real and important difference between seeing a therapist because of a clinical condition and seeing a mental performance coach because you think you can tack on a few more points in a season.

As this is a mental coach, I think this is much more akin to seeing a therapist then drinking cherry juice.I think there’s a real and important difference between seeing a therapist because of a clinical condition and seeing a mental performance coach because you think you can tack on a few more points in a season.
