I thought with both Moynihan and McCarthy returning for that bonus year due to COVID that we would retain their rights until they completed college after this season. I remember we were all very high on McCarthy in particular. If they were even bottom pairing NHL candidates I hate losing them for nothing.

I guess they’re basically graduated and are just hanging around to play more.

It makes sense for Moynihan, he had a real rough year in term of production, he’s looking for a bounce back year at Notre Dame.

McCarthy was made Captain at BU.

McCarthy and Moynihan were both at NJ's 2022 development camp, but not 2023 - not sure if that's because they got too old or the team knew they weren't signing either of them.

So...I guess we lost the rights to Moyniham and McCarthy?

Obviously not a big deal, as neither had a future with the organization.

Moynihan had an impressive freshman season at Providence, but somehow managed to put up significantly worse stats his senior year.

Not sure how to judge McCarthy given he's a defenseman. Guessing both return to college for another season?

I always liked McCarthy. The road here for him is incredibly congested though.

Thank you everyone for your likes about my dog Nala. I only wish that each of you had an opportunity to have spent a day with her. You would have been in love.

Thanks everyone. It means a lot to this 88 yr old

There is a lot of pressure on the younger guys now. If Mercer can be 50% of the player he was last year, it's going to be good season.

mercer has solidified his place on the team and i dont foresee any "50% of what he was last year" going forward, the guy is a machine on the ice

there might be pressure on the likes of holtz, foote, but not mercer

No secret, I was adopted in 1936. I do know who my biological parents were. My biological father lived to 91. My biological mother lived to 89. I am mostly bedridden due to pain, most back pain from advanced stenosis, 3 herniated lower back disks, and 1 herniated neck disk. I have two dead hips and lots of arthritis throughout my body. I played a lot of sports in my lifetime, right up to 79 yrs old when I stopped downhill skiing 100 days a year.
I get by, on good days I go out for lunch. I go to doctors, I go to stores I use a walker or rollator. I do take a lot of pain meds like morphine, opioids, CBD, and Gabapentin. I have a spine stimulator installed in my back. I watch a lot of sports and have TV and the Internet. I am a lot better off than many older people.

I want to see the NJ Devils on TV of course get another Stanley Cup in my lifetime. I was in person for two Cups '94-'95 and '99-'00 and watch on TV the other '02-'03.

Lots of info, more than you needed. Good health to you and yours.

Let's Go Devils

You are a strong man and an inspiration for us all.

God bless.

I know some here frown upon Bratt Pack posts, but I wanted to share this.

Bratt is still seeing his sports psychologist. I love that for him, shows a lot of commitment to his game. Dude looks ready for ‘23-‘24!

I don't think anyone is against posting him if he has interesting/useful information. If he says something people want to know about and it's ignored because he's not well liked, that's just weird.

I think people hate the weirdness of talking about hating him and then posting a tweet he posted as evidence to why.

It's like trying a bite of something and going "OMG this is so gross, try it." No, I trust you, get it away from me.

I’m all for people getting the help they need, and if Bratt needs it, good for him for being open about it.

That said, some of this stuff just feels a bit dubious to me. Like, if a player was in constant need of physical therapy, you’d be a bit concerned. But these days therapy is coded as the Good and Responsible thing to do, and the fact that Bratt has been in therapy for more than six years is just shrugged off.

I wonder what would happen if one day his therapist just said to him “Jesper, you’re a healthy and well adjusted young man, go out and enjoy your life, and if something happens and you need to come back, I’ll be here.”

One thing that would happen is the therapist would stop getting checks.

I agree, thought that was cool info, so thought I’d share. I personally don’t mind his content, but don’t want to upset anyone here lol.

Glad to see Jesper takes his mental health seriously. That stuff’s important!

Maybe it’s more of an off-season habit for him, a reset before the season, talking about his goals, setting objectives, putting things in perspective etc. Either way, I respect it. It certainly appears like it’s working for him. I’m pretty sure many players do this, more than we think at least.

I remember it being a story during his rookie season break out.

I heard Baseball is 90% mental. I think Hockey is even higher.
