That looks like a great way to ruin a Jersey. They should sell a Devils bib with that thing.

I'm also doubting that $8.50 price tag.

Sabres announced their yearly prospects tournament at their practice arena. It's Buffalo , New Jersey , Boston , Ottawa & Pittsburgh as the 5 teams participating. Will be nice to get some watchable hockey a bit earlier than preseason.
Especially since I only recently learned how to Youtube on my TV.

Was this always 5 teams?

Still think the Devils should host a Devs-Rags-Philly-Isles prospect tourney. Attendance would be pretty good I think.

I probably spend a solid 50% of my TV time on YouTube lately. Maybe even a little more. Mostly fly tying videos but I can't help watching Kill Tony episodes also.

I'm even more then that. Old boxing matches and the 86 Celtics have been something I'm into lately.

My GF will watch some stuff on Netflix and I'll get on my laptop.

I've started paying for Youtube Premium.

Yeah, I don't really want to but I also find myself watching more Youtube than anything else these days.

Just because the top 5 are all from this year's draft does not mean that it is automatically shiny new toy syndrome. If any of those top 5 were in any of the last two drafts, they easily would have been the 1st overall pick. And while I do think a couple of prospects have done enough to be considered a little better than Will Smith (and debatably Leo Carlsson), it is absolutely not the case of recency bias to consider him the 5th best prospect in the world right now, nor consider the other four the top four. They are really that good.

I know we’re going astray but I also do YouTube Premium and then ended up with YouTube as my music service. So I probably end up getting more use and value out of my YouTube Premium than any of the streaming services.

Also nice that even if something I watch is demonetized by YouTube the creator will still get paid for my view out of the Premium bucket.

Wheeler does normally have the guys just drafted high on his lists year to year, at least based on my memory.

I believe this is because he’s basing a lot of his list on best case scenario for most of the players. The youngest guys still have the most potential as they haven’t moved up in levels and started to show how their weaknesses are holding them back.

I also agree this last class may also be uniquely more talented than prior years; so multiple reasons for the recent guys to be high, I think.

Another noticeable thing going on in his rankings is, a big group of fwd's followed by a big group of d-men.

Youtube Premium ends up being the best deal in streaming. All day while I'm working I have stuff on my iPad... Whether it's live bird feeders, wilderness travel videos, weird documentaries, architecture tours, travel vlogs, video podcast... and not having ads is so worth it.

I spend a ton of time on YouTube. I pay for premium as well. I also use YouTube Music a lot, which is included in the monthly fee.

The entire top 4 + Michkov go first over Slafkovsky last year. Reinbacher is below Nemec/Jiricek but he's still a good prospect in his own right too.

Some years it was 4. It was usually Buffalo (always hosting it) , Boston , Pittsburgh and NJ. Ottawa I believe was added last year.

1. Dallas (+15.7)
2. Detroit (+14.4)
3. Pittsburgh (+12.1)

4. New Jersey Devils

Goal Difference added: 10.3
Salary added: -$12.6 million

In: Tyler Toffoli, Colin Miller
Out: Damon Severson, Ryan Graves, Tomas Tatar, Yegor Sharangovich, Mackenzie Blackwood, Miles Wood

Swapping Tyler Toffoli for Yegor Sharangovich was a massive win for the Devils, a move that immediately gives the team one of the league’s deepest top-six groups. That difference more than makes up for losing Damon Severson and Ryan Graves on the back end, especially when factoring in that the team added Colin Miller to shore things up. With Luke Hughes and Simon Nemec on the rise, it was a very worthy trade-off.

What puts New Jersey’s offseason over the top is saying goodbye to Mackenzie Blackwood and Miles Wood, two players that had fallen out of favor with the fan base. Blackwood once showed promise, but it was clear that he wasn’t the same guy after injuries derailed his trajectory. With Akira Schmid in town, the Devils were safe to move on.

Ditto for Wood who looked lost last year after missing a year with injury. Maybe he bounces back with Colorado, but the Devils were still very wise to move on considering the contract he was given.

The Isles are my favorites. They come in at 6th. They have Bailey and Parise as outs. No ins lol
