Giving up assets for Hanifin extended makes sense to me, means they think Sieganthaler isn't a long term top 4 dman for this team. He'd probably go in the deal imo. Hanifin seems like he'd age well also, and wouldn't be counted on for offense/PP work, which he's capable of doing but not at an elite level.
It would be an upgrade on Siegenthaler and for 4 more million a year...I can see it being enticing as the cap grows. I just worry it's a very expensive move here. The Avalanche stole Devon Toews...is NJ going to find anyone like that to fill out their roster? Or just pay up big time constantly for the final pieces of the puzzle?
