Chicago
Need to beat Washington and Montreal this week no questions about it

Then a split vs rangers/lightening

Prefer a W against the lightening as they are ahead of the devils

f*** it just win all 4

Detroit schedule is kind of soft this week but they got Seattle, colorodo,Chicago and stl I believe

I don’t even know what the point of this debate is, nor do I really care, I only jumped in because you kept referring to all the “meaningless goals” without having any facts.

That bugged me.

If you want to keep thinking all 16 are meaningless, and that 16 is a lot, knock yourself out.
Ok...this is always a problem here...with jump in conversations

The original point I made was this team is always playing from behind .. and I said this team is bottom 10 team in minutes when leading...to which I was told that is that is ridiculous Vitek gets plenty of goal support... that's where the meaningless goals came from ... Go down 3-0 make it 4-3 and say Vitek got "goal support " is insane.

For the record we've lost 2 games when leading after 2 periods this season with our "worst in the league" goaltending.

Both at home unfortunately.

When leading after 2

Overall 18-2-1
Home 6-2-1

So 12-0 on the road when leading after two

When we score first we're 11-3-2. With our bad goaltending. Pretty abysmal we've only scored 1st 16 times in 53 games. (30% of the time)

Last year when leading after two:
34-1-2
When scored first last year
30-9-1 (just about 50% of the time scoring 1st)

AHL is more complicated to compare players on the same roster ... The goalie getting the 3rd game of 3 game in 4 nights with B team bottom 6 and extra D didn't have the same team in front of him as the first goalie.

It's not like the NHL where if healthy the same 6 Dmen and same 12 forwards play every game (mostly). They rotate guys in an out all the time

Right, so we can’t see his .885 and conclude maybe he’s just not playing well this year. If he was playing really well down there you definitely wouldn’t use that as evidence for your “argument” or whatever you could even call this.

Schmid played quite a bit, they sent him down to play.

I don’t know if his schedule was particularly hard though.

How about in 2022 with our shitty goaltending?

When leading after 2 periods: 16-2-3
11-0 at home

The problem is we only led after two periods 21 times in 2022...We have 21 games leading after 2 already this year after 53 played. We led after 2 periods 37 times last year.

Teams just don't lose much leading after 2 periods.... leading by 3 goals going into the 3rd is a death blow

I’m still trying to figure out how not scoring first or not leading after two periods is automatically attributed to a problem with the offense.
I'm not sure each one of those things by themselves means problem with the offense.

But when you know you are a bottom 10 team in the league in time with a lead.

You know we only score first 30% of the time

You know when we do score first we win 68.75% of our games

You know when we lead going into the 3rd we win 76% of our games. 100% on the road.

You can see a clear picture that we don't lead games enough and we play from behind too often.

I don't think you can blame the goalie for not scoring the first goal 70% of the time. When you start 70% of games down a goal and you trail the game for large portions it's definitely a tougher game to win.

Almost everyone has been complaining about the slow starts all year and it seems we want to ignore that and just blame the goalie. Take a lead and your going to win more games. It's simple.

I love the guy but it’s obvious he hasn’t been good. Anyone with a pair of eyeballs can see the obscene amount of poor rebounds he spits out. And those long range wrist shots that go under the glove have been backbreakers all season when they are routine shots.
Yeah, I don’t think the shots under the glove arm have been an all year problem, but there was a two game span where I think he allowed like 4 or 5 of those.

I remember two of them came in the first game against Tampa. One was the overtime winner.

And the game he played right before that was against Chicago where we came uncomfortably close to not winning that one. He allowed only 2 goals in that game, but both were very weak tricklers under his left arm. That’s a fairly safe shutout with the most mediocre of goalies.

LOL there’s no such thing as a meaningless goal when it pulls you within one with more than ten seconds remaining in the game, that’s purely a hindsight way of looking at it. Besides, Vitek’s win percentage means he gets a lot of goal support in ‘wins’ so what’s the point again?

You actually said this to me once before either last year or two years ago and I got you all the teams that have only have 1 or 2 losses when leading after two. Not by multiple goals either . Just leading.

I gave you an article from 2017 or 2018 where Pittsburgh had gone like 3 years without losing a game when leading after two. Not by by multiple goals, just leading after two.

I am sure Vancouver hasn't lost this season when leading after two. It's more than "rare" to win when down by 3 going into the 3rd it's freaking impossible. If it happens to non-bottom feeders more than 10 times a year I'd be shocked

This is because you are ignoring loser points. Sure, teams almost never lose in regulation when up 2 in the 3rd, but they sure can lose in OT, and they do. The Islanders had a 2 goal lead in the 3rd period and lost in OT just yesterday.

It is not freaking impossible to win a game down 3 goals in the 3rd. It is almost impossible to do it in regulation, which is why this isn't showing up for you.

In 1998, there were 56 wins by a team trailing going in to the 3rd period, out of a total of 1066 games total. There were also 98 ties. This season, there've been 115 wins by a team trailing in the 3rd period, out of a total of ~864 games. The scoring landscape has changed and also OT/shootouts eliminate ties, but comebacks happen far more frequently now even still.

Anyone else kinda pissed the islanders bed shitting is becoming to main headline out of this weekend for the Stadium Series?

2 games in Jersey and the Devils are an afterthought.
I don’t think anyone gives a shit about these games but the fanbases that are a part of them. They were a smashing success in that regard. It was a great weekend.

Was listening to 32T this morning and was just thinking the same thing. EF brought the Devils for a bit but it went right back to yesterday’s game. Ugh.
