I really don't understand why Jim refuses to see the forest from the trees here?

The Devils defense and goaltending plays a big factor in their current position right now.

He said it's the offense...well why can't it be both?
It is both. Well all three playing off one another. The Devils just own the puck so they generate a ton of chances, which means less time in the defensive zone. When they are in the defensive zone they do a great job of limiting high danger chances and therefore the goaltending hasn’t had to stand on their head to win games. It also helps that the goaltending is doing its job this season and not actively killing our chances at wins. It’s a beautiful symphony right now.

Is it possible Jim just likes to one, be negative and two, disagree with people?

Would explain why he’s not around nearly as often when things are going well. It’s harder to be negative.
And why even when things are going well and he’s around he tries to reach for random parts to argue about even if he sounds dumb and is going against the most basic common sense. Like his arguments don’t even make sense or say anything at this point.

You aren't watching the games and it shows. This isn't what the Devils are doing. They are just outworking teams in their D zone and that's how they are playing defense, by forechecking the shit out of them and controlling shifts. I feel very confident that the Devils with a lead so far this year are better than any team in the Corsi era in terms of Corsi and xG.

This wasn't true, but the Devils have the 4th best Corsi of all time with a lead (Colorado in 2021, Rangers and Carolina this year), and by far the best xG (Carolina this year is second). Most years very few teams manage a 50% Corsi with a lead, at most one or two, and most years the best xGs with a lead barely creep over 50%. The Devils are different than almost any other team in this era, so far.

Because then it is less of a chance to shit on Hughes and Hischier. The more blame that can be put on the forwards the more he can crap on those two disgraces.

Lmao does anyone remember last season when he was acting like Mercer was better than them and it was gonna be obvious. Might’ve been when Hughes was coming back from injury.

Love Mercer but come on

At this point I think it seems like a fair bet that Schmid and Daws will be in competition for the backup spot next year and we'll let Blackwood walk. Barring some unforeseen developments.
