Looks can be deceiving, I tore my ACL during a game in 2019. Had a knee on knee collision and I got right up and kept playing, hurt a bit. Went to the hospital and they said it was fine, so I kept playing on it. Finally got my MRI last month and it turned out I had a torn ACL the whole time
. Damn that’s crazy you played through that. I remember is high school I played through a pretty serious groin strain in basketball and it hurt like hell and was stupid to do. Doctor said I was seriously lucky I did t completely tear it which would have sucked lol

The thing with Mika is that he's basically playing worse than he did as a rookie. That's something. I mean I guess it was expected that last year was a career high, but falling off so bad...

I don't buy the COVID-explanation anymore either. Yes, when the season started. Not 2 months after. Something else is going on.
. I agree. Quinn hasn’t said it’s an injury. He feels it’s mental and lack of confidence

The Mika thing is hard. He’s obviously not back up to speed but he’s got what 3 assists the last two games? Not opposed to giving him less time, but benching/scratching seems counter productive

Really concerned about Igor. He single handedly kept them in the game for the first 20 minutes when the team in front of him was terrible.

Zibby, like Michelletti said, has lost all of his confidence. If Kaapo comes back next game, I think he should sit a few out and just start trying to piece his game back together in practice. I think Quinn benched him because he was being a defensive liability as well as not getting anything going offensively. That first devils goal was a result of Zib completely losing his check. I thought it was a good move on Quinns part.

Bright sides, obviously Kreider. And the kid with the sick snap shot in the third put a big smile on my face.
I agree. Quinn did the right thing in this instance. It was long overdue in fact. We’ve had some terrible luck with our star players / prospects This season. Happy to see that shot from LaF, even though it was a garbage time goal at the end of the game, he kept working and got rewarded for it. That rubs off on others hopefully Zibby too

It's very interesting to see how McLeod has adjusted upon turning pro.

As a junior, he wasn't as aggressive and there were moments where you couldn't tell if he was trending toward a more skill-based, top six outcome, or more of a bottom six role.

Once he turned pro I think he realized his skills weren't necessarily going to carry him and he seemed to accept and buy into his role as a bottom six agitator who chips in the odd point.

But the player he is now is quite different than the player he was in juniors.

Would have been 3-0 after 1 without him.
I don’t understand why in 99% of the games played they come out like their dog died with no heart/hunger. Getting in holes later in the year isn’t going to be easy to get out of. But I digress... I’ll take the W

To cheer myself up (because the Shesterkin situation is a real downer), I keep clinging to the image of Gorton holding a six pack of Colt 45's and shouting, "See bitches, this is why I kept two number one goalies!!!!"

It's all I've got right now.
I wasn’t even aware those came in 6 packs.

I’ve only ever seen them in the big glass bottle haha

Hope Brett Howden is reading this

I feel like Howden has carved out a niche for himself as a fourth line center and Penalty Killer. He has played with more of an edge this season, but now the offense has completely vanished.

He's a guy who looks like he'll have a role in the NHL, probably with multiple teams, but the rest of his game just hasn't developed like one would've hoped.

And frankly, there's nothing wrong with that, so long as you have the proper centers in place on the other three lines.

Strome has quietly put up a string of good games and gotten going those he's played with since Panarin came out. Kreider broke out with him. Finished that Laf laser pass the other game, which got the kid's confidence going ever since. Can't downplay this with Chytil now just getting back and Mika's struggles.

I think it's time to give him an extended look at wing. He looks refreshed whenever it happens.
