Forgot about Matteau, unless Lou has another trade in the works makes the most sense to send him back to the Q since there is no risk of losing him (like everyone else we could send down). He can go back to the Q, but can we bring him back?

Larsson and Andy Greene, both have really stepped up their play from last year, and we are definitely getting more points and opportunities from the blue line then last year. I think we have the potential to be better then last year, but we aren't there yet. We are definitely a very good team, and now a much deeper team with assets to get even deeper.

Salvador probably won't touch God tier status again though. Never know, of course, but I doubt it.

Fayne has another year of experience too, that will help.

Harrold wouldn't get through waivers, and he's a swingman (can play both forward and defense), he's not going anywhere.

He is a waste of a Roster spot. He is behind Tallinder as back up D and there are a few F who are ahead of him.

That implies Loki goes down. But why would you call up Loki for an optional skate when Albany had a game tonight.

My only possible thought is that they brought Loki up to see if they should do the Poni trade or not.

i think matteau being sent back is the most sensible option. but i have my doubts about that happening tbh.

lol at the waste of a roster spot comment, he was a cheap and effective fill-in last year and is still that now (although he won't be filling in as much clearly until/if someone gets moved). I guess his play in the playoffs and down the stretch last year never happened.

Doesn't have to be Loik being sent down although I don't see why that's so implausible. There was no reason to think Lou was even in discussions about getting Poni back until the Jets acquired Tangradi. I was never convinced Loik was up here to play to begin with, only to provide another healthy body once Zubrus went on IR. If he is going to play then the guy he was going to play for (Matteau/Butler) will be the one to go.

so we should play a roulette on who gets magically injured

That's another possibility, someone could get Fayned for a couple of days though they'd have to be put on short-term IR and not play for a week to clear a roster spot.

Barch might suddenly need to go on IR for a couple days. Delayed effects from his last fight, no doubt.

If we weren't playing the Flyers I'd agree...but I think Barch is going to be in the lineup Friday come hell or high water.

Harrold was filling in for a post injury Larsson. Larsson is here to stay. Urbom appears to be ready if we move Tallinder and one of our dman go down. I would think Matteau/Butler/Harrold are the only 3 possible players to go down.

LMAO!

This is completely out-of-the-blue like many of lou's past deals.

With Zubie out for awhile, this is a much-needed reacquisition.

NOW WE GOT OUR PONI BACK!! :yo:

Matteau can be sent to the AHL

Wow!! Just saw this. Awesome news, and of course, he's from Kiev, my favorite city (wife's from there). I hated that we lost him and really hoped we could re-acquire him. And the price wasn't high. Awesome. :yo:

Again, Harrold can't go down. He'd have to go through waivers, and almost certainly picked up. That's called wasting an asset.

The only guys in the discussion to get sent down are Matteau/Butler/Loik. And Butler has to go through waivers too, although it doesn't seem like the organization really gives two ***** about him anyway.

Send him through waivers. If he gets picked up good for him. It isn't like he is going to be getting any ice time with this team.

Most likely not, but he is still solid defensively and the young guys improvements makes us a much more solid defensive team.

We need to get points from Yayo though, if we can get points from the 3rd/4th line (whatever they are) that puts us over the top. Whether it is Yayo or Loki I don't care as long as someone gets on that line and produces. We now suddenly some forwards to start fighting for spots to solidify the bottom 6 (and we all now that is really important come playoff time)

Also Lou said Zubs will be 2-8 weeks, so barring set backs, even if he goes the maximum he would be back with two weeks left in the season, which is a real nice late season pick up. As someone already said all of a sudden DAT DEPTH!!!!

Trading Tallinder for something and saving a lot of money in the process makes a lot more sense than losing Harrold for free if you're worried about clearing a spot. Clearly the Devils aren't worried about clearing a spot or paying Tallinder to sit, since they've been consistent about keeping the eight D as long as possible.
