He wasn't drafted out of the CHL. He can go to the AHL
Don't think that's true. Covered it some other thread yesterday. He's back to the CHL or the NHL this season for now.

Urbom's not playing in the NHL. We've no reason to believe he can play in the NHL.If Urbom is playing bad then Lou would have felt his team defense was lacking.

I think it's far more likely he gets used in a deal to get something else, especially since we're running out of draft picks to trade. He's pretty much fallen behind Merrill/Gelinas/Burlon in the pecking order.
No. This was cleared up yesterday. Nothing to do with where he was drafted. It's an agreement between CHL and the AHL. He's under 20 and presently on a CHL team's roster hence he can't go to the AHL. Unlike Grigormanos ( I know I butchered his name) who was also drafted out of USDL but didn't sign with a junior team so he was able to go to the AHL.
Playing armchair GM.....
Trade Tallinder, Tedenby & Urbom to the Leafs for Nikolai Kulemin & prospect, Kenny Ryan
Send Matteau back to the Q
Send Josefson back to Albany
Send Kenny Ryan to Albany
Line Combos:
Kulemin - Loktionov - Kovalchuk (The Russian Score Front)
Elias - Henrique - Clarkson
Poni - Zajac - Butler
Carter - Gionta - Bernier
Barch swaps in when needed, Harrold is spare parts
Zubes replaces whoever is sucking ass when he gets back
The CHL/AHL transfer agreement would. The AHL contractually cannot take him until the CHL season is over because he was on a CHL roster. When is he "off" the roster then? If that's the rule what's stopping him for "quitting" the CHL team.

He's AHL eligible as soon as the CHL season is over, at least for the rest of this current season. He is/will be old enough that I think he's AHL eligible next year.Gotcha. So next year he's AHL eligible right off the bat then, right?
And then you have to teach a new defenseman the system. No, no chance. One or the other, but not both.
It's the CHL protecting its talent. He'll only be 19 next year so if he's still "on" a CHL roster that would technically mean he's still not eligible. If that's the case it's a top 5 moronic rule/agreement in sports.
As much as I loved Tommy Albelin, he was a little long in the tooth the last time he suited up in our uniform.Since we're bringing back former Devils, just re-sign Tommy Albelin.

Love it! Couldn't be happier.
Prototypical player we were talking about a few days ago ! Sucks he just didn't get re-signed in the off-season but he's the guy we needed.
Butler - Zajac - Kovy
Elias - Henrique - Clarkson
Poni - Lokti - Josefson/Matteau then Zubrus
Carter - Gionta - bernier
I mean it'd be one thing if they actually 'did' play together at some point, but just assuming people will click because of nationality is silly.
