Urbom's not playing in the NHL. We've no reason to believe he can play in the NHL.

I think it's far more likely he gets used in a deal to get something else, especially since we're running out of draft picks to trade. He's pretty much fallen behind Merrill/Gelinas/Burlon in the pecking order.

Don't think that's true. Covered it some other thread yesterday. He's back to the CHL or the NHL this season for now.

I know he can legally play in the AHL at 18 because he wasn't drafted out of the CHL but I guess there may be other rules that prevent it midseason. Doesn't matter though because Loktionov and Butler are both going back down before him.

No. This was cleared up yesterday. Nothing to do with where he was drafted. It's an agreement between CHL and the AHL. He's under 20 and presently on a CHL team's roster hence he can't go to the AHL. Unlike Grigormanos ( I know I butchered his name) who was also drafted out of USDL but didn't sign with a junior team so he was able to go to the AHL.

Has he not improved? He didn't look bad when he was called up last year.

When is he "off" the roster then? If that's the rule what's stopping him for "quitting" the CHL team.

Playing armchair GM.....

Trade Tallinder, Tedenby & Urbom to the Leafs for Nikolai Kulemin & prospect, Kenny Ryan

Send Matteau back to the Q
Send Josefson back to Albany
Send Kenny Ryan to Albany

Line Combos:

Kulemin - Loktionov - Kovalchuk (The Russian Score Front)
Elias - Henrique - Clarkson
Poni - Zajac - Butler
Carter - Gionta - Bernier

Barch swaps in when needed, Harrold is spare parts
Zubes replaces whoever is sucking ass when he gets back

That would be pretty cool. To the people saying Zajac wouldn't play 3rd line, he'd still get 1st pp and PK minutes which would amount to 20+ mins. Obviously the main thing would be Lotki's play and chemistry with Kovy and Kuli, but that's a fun idea. No need to slam the guy haha

lol is that supposed to be Grigo or Girg

But yes that is it. Wonder what Lou did to get to the appropriate number of roster players. and I wonder who Lou will try and get between now and the deadline to solidify the top 6.

He'll only be 19 next year so if he's still "on" a CHL roster that would technically mean he's still not eligible. If that's the case it's a top 5 moronic rule/agreement in sports.

And CD finished it. Thanks.

From what I gather the cut off is 20yo or "over ager". The blue chip prospects either go straight to NHL or play one year of junior. Most guys play two years of junior after being drafted then head to the pros (NHL/AHL)

He's AHL eligible as soon as the CHL season is over, at least for the rest of this current season. He is/will be old enough that I think he's AHL eligible next year.

Which means no problem sending him back now and he can go to Albany when the CHL season is done. No problems and we don't lose an asset to waivers.

Butler - Zajac - Kovy
Elias - Henrique - Clarkson
Poni - Lokti - Josefson/Matteau then Zubrus
Carter - Gionta - bernier

It's still missing something. I'm really puzzled as to what to move around and what to bring in. We need one more goal scorer, and for Zajac to break out of his offensive slump.

I mean it'd be one thing if they actually 'did' play together at some point, but just assuming people will click because of nationality is silly.

Sykora and Jagr are exceptions. Sykora played with Jagr, Straka Hemsky, Elias, Prucha, Prospal, Havlat and Rucinsky off the top of my head. He usually plays well with a Cezch on his line
