You don't always see shots get taken and such on the ice. To be clear here, 90 MPH slap shot coming at you is not dangerous, but beer being thrown is a dangerous situation?I'd rather get hit by something I see coming or anticipate instead of being blindsided
has a full beer can being chugged at you ever? that shit hurts
Devil fan living in Toronto. Are you really trying to pat yourself on your back because your franchise that is located in the largest city in Canada will still draw crowds even when they put a dogshit team on the ice? Whereas the Devils have two other teams in their market and a 3rd just 90 minutes away. Maybe if some fans there didn't show up when your team is crap, there might be some more incentive to actually put a winning team on the ice.
Anyway, congrats on winning the attendance award. Devils fans will have to suffer through these types of insults and massively cheaper tickets. I don't condone anything being thrown on the ice, but I'm guessing The Rock was probably louder last night than a Maple Leaf home playoff game.
All 3 disallowed goals are good calls.Honestly can't blame them those were some tacky ass calls except for the 2nd
Context for anyone: 3 disallowed goals for the Devs
Edit: Didn't realize the 3rd was a kick in, thought it was called GI
Headline should read "Devils fans who don't know the rulebook are salty that their team got out played and lost so they throw beer and other things at the Leafs players and on the ice"
It's crazy because Devils fans were crying bloody murder when their goalie was taken down in almost the exact same play and Colorado scored and were whining for a call, disallowed goal. Now they commit the exact same infraction and they think it's not a penalty lmao.
More fans throwing shit at the Leafs AFTER the game is over, pathetic from the fans in the arena

No one should ever be throwing stuff on the ice, those comments are just ridiculous and sounds like someone is talking about bricks being thrown at them.
Absolutely. But there’s better places to get drunk and start shit. I still think a crowd apathetic enough to not be intensely angry over three disallowed goals in the heat of the moment is more of a concern than one that features a few guys stepping over a line in throwing some beers.Any knucklehead that shows up to a game has the potential to get drunk and indignant even if they don't really follow the team that much.
Again, why can Haula be concerned about the Devils staff getting hit but not Marner about the Leafs staff? You're fixating on the whole 'the players can't get hurt cause they have equipment on'.You don't always see shots get taken and such on the ice. Exactly what I thought. You know your hockey.I mean, 2 of them were obvious no goals per the rules. First one could of went either way.
A vast majority of Devils fans do not condone what happened last night. You're also being naïve if you think the situation is somehow unique to the NJ fanbase, which has zero history of this ever happening before. If this exact situation played out in most other arenas you probably would have seen similar results.Marner - 'They're throwing it to try to hit us.'
I'm sure he's referring to the Leafs trainers, coaches etc. as well as the players. Why can Haula be concerned but not Marner? lol.
This whole thing is dumb. You have Devils fans celebrating it and saying it's fun when the refs, coaches, trainers, arena staff, fans etc. could have been hit with a full beer and actually got hurt. It's not strictly about the players. You're pissing in the wind if you think that Devils fans wouldn't be saying the same stuff if another fanbase was throwing shit at their players and coaches.
Not to disagree with you too much but you can get upper bowl seats in Toronto for $100 to $150. I frequently buy tickets in standing room - I paid under $150 face value for the home opener this year. I went to all 4 games vs. Tampa in the playoffs and paid around $200 per ticket.Devil fan living in Toronto.
When the leafs are doing good it is harder to get tickets and cost a weeks pay. When they are doing bad it is easier to get tickets and are generally bought up by non leaf fans and during those years when the leafs are not doing as good, non leaf fans pick up the slack becuse we can finally get tickets to games even if it’s not our team.
Probably a third of “true” hockey fans in the GTA are fans of “other” NHL teams.
Aside from being family friends with a Leaf in the 80s it has been extremely hard to get tickets and when you do you are paying a scalper and arm and a leg. I make good money and never Have I been able to to take my kids to a leaf game.
They have been to Buffalo numerous times. Tampa and Detroit because they are more affordable.
I can get cheaper tickets when the leafs sucked but my girls got the option. Leaf tickets and go home or Sabres tickets with shopping and hotel and we still end up not paying more.

If you go to my post history in this thread over the last 12 hours you'll see that I never said it was all Devils fans or that the majority condones it. I also said I understand that Jays fans did this in the playoffs almost 10 years ago. I also do recall Islanders fans throwing shit on the ice when they played Tampa in the playoffs a few years ago, and I'm sure I said the same stuff then.A vast majority of Devils fans do not condone what happened last night. Philly/NJ definitely have this repuation. I've seen the odd can of beer or trash thrown, I don't think I've ever seen piles and piles of beer cans like that (outside of Philly/NJ).
The dumbest part is throwing it at the players. You are so mad at the refs you throw it at the players who just beat you? Straight up cro-magnon behaviour.
To each their own, I don't think we will agree on this. All teams go through cyclical ups and downs, the fans should stick around either way.
Yeah the most hated thing is more of a Canada deal. In the states they're treated with relative indifference.Shitty look for the Devils fans no doubt, and the calls were all legit, but I bet any fanbase would have some fans do that if they had 2 disallowed goals against the most hated team in the league while also on a 13 game win streak. Still very scummy to throw beers and shit on the ice during a game
Hockey player's sign up for the possibility of being hit with a slap shot, that is a potential outcome that can occur while playing the gameYou don't always see shots get taken and such on the ice.
