LOL - a Maple Leafs fan talking shit to Devils fans about lack of winning.
Devils made it to the finals in their lifetime. Assuming they’re over 11 years old which I guess is possible they aren’t. This person probably has parents who haven’t even seen the Leafs win a cup. Maybe even grandparents who haven’t seen the Leafs win a cup.

But I guess when it’s like that you have to take the small victories. Lowered expectations. Where just making it to the playoffs is bragging rights.

You will have to forgive them, they haven't watched hockey in a decade.

Or, more likely, they didn't realize what happened. Many people have said how poor the replays are in arena, they apparently barely showed replays of the disallowed goals as they were being reviewed.

Many fans probably didn't even see the kick. Again, not condoning their actions but they don't have the same replays people do at home.

Also, that first goal should've counted. Didn't impede Murray at all. At the very least Marner should've got a hold leading up to it.

Watching Murray rip out his net with his hand in a clear blatant delay of game penalty (that didn't get called by the refs) was the cherry on top for all the disallowed goals. Murray wasn't even smooth with it, he straight up used his hand and pushed it off on purpose because the leafs were hemmed in the zone. Between that and the weak calls this game was straight up BS. Refs literally decided the outcome of this game on a historic winning streak.

That was so utterly blatant when Toronto was totally gassed and hemmed in the zone for so long. Fans were livid already and it had seemed like a goal maybe manufactured from that zone control.

Lol, child please. We were USED to seeing 20 years of winning then tolerated a decade of down time. Now its looks like its going to be a golden decade again, so its 90s and 00s nostalgia again for the fanbase. Hence the insane atmospheres at these home games so far.

Monday night was even wild.
Don't take the bait from anyone about Jersey.
Regardless of fanbase, there are always dummies that will try to make themselves feel better by trashing others.

New Jersey is hardly a franchise that deserves derision.

They went from a dynasty, through a lengthy lull, and are now coming up the other side again with appears to be a fantastic future.

All these posts about how bad New Jersey is, or supposedly is, are pathetic and based on ignorance.

I have family in Linden, Elizabeth, Union and Newark and used to go down there 3+ times a year while growing up. I can recite the path down there without looking at a map and tell you just how long it should take to drive from Toronto to Linden, via NY or via PA.
While I wouldn't want to live in Newark, the other towns are beautiful and not dissimilar to other suburbs of Toronto.

Translation: Get over it, we all get boned.

Instead of saying that, how about the league is accountable for calling goals on same similar shit or not wiping out similar plays out or we not allowed to have accountability for the league?

Consistency would be cool.

Translation, throwing shit at the opposing teams players and on the ice because you don't know the rules of the NHL is absolutely disgusting and classless. They were throwing beers at the Leafs players because they were frustrated about 3 waived off goals, which was the correct call, because they don't understand the rules. Craig Button, one of the most notorious anti-leaf analysts on TV agreed they were the correct calls.

Getting frustrated is one thing, going about it the way they did is just pathetic. I agree they should be consistent and call all the plays/infractions the same, but you think what the fans in Jersey did last night was appropriate ?

The funniest thing to me is people trying to derail this thread into, "Murray knocked his own net off!" as if that is a bigger deal than fans throwing stuff at the opposing teams players and on the ice. I know the Devils fans on this site are better than that, but it seemed like the crowd in the arena last night was just filled with casual fans who showed up because of the team playing phenomenal hockey, they had no real understanding of the rules at all.

Hockey fans who feel the need to literally throw objects onto the ice are freaking weird, man.

Headline should read “Toronto resident referee and Toronto based war room conspire to rob Devils of franchise record win by stealing 3 Goals. Crowd reacts poorly, but understandably.”

Fixed!

Headline should read "Devils fans who don't know the rulebook are salty that their team got out played and lost so they throw beer and other things at the Leafs players and on the ice"

It's crazy because Devils fans were crying bloody murder when their goalie was taken down in almost the exact same play and Colorado scored and were whining for a call, disallowed goal. Now they commit the exact same infraction and they think it's not a penalty lmao.

More fans throwing shit at the Leafs AFTER the game is over, pathetic from the fans in the arena

Oh you mean fans get angry when rules aren’t applied evenly?? Tell me more!!

What advanced stat tells you the Devils got outplayed? They buried the Queefs in the 2nd and 3rd.

Casual fans who don't know the rules get angry when their team loses and can only put the puck in the net by committing an infraction. Imagine you guys spent this much time reading the NHL rulebook, instead of whatever the hell this thread is

"advanced stats" The eye-test and the score told me they got outplayed, almost no chances generated 5 on 5, a big chunk of their shots came on the PP

Regardless you're still dodging, fans throwing beers and garbage at the opposing teams players and on the ice is just a disgrace. The fact that you support that kind of behavior tells me all I need to know.

"Out played"? Criticizing the stuff being thrown is fair, but you don't need to blatantly lie about the flow of the game.

I don’t condone throwing stuff on the ice but at the same time I don’t feel like I have much room to scold anyone because I got kicked out of a WCW Nitro event in 1998 for throwing trash at the NWO. Wolfpack 4life.

I fake throwing stuff at wrestling events.

The puck went in directly where Murray's foot would have been if Bastian didn't block it.

Honestly, all 3 were easy calls, I don't really get the outrage or the confusion. Maybe the rules are bad, that's a different conversation.

This was peak NWO vs Wolfpack (loved The Outsiders) and there were a lot of people throwing stuff in the ring. I was just stupid enough to be wearing a bright yellow shirt that stood out from everyone else.

This was when the NWO was full of scrubs though. Not the original crew.

Murray didn't kick his leg out to attempt a save until after Bastian was out of the way. If Murray was trying to slide over earlier he would have tucked his leg in more and got his body over, that is what goalies do in that situation. The rule is based on impeding the goalie's ability to attempt a save, which didn't happen. The NHL's explanation of a "significant presence" by Bastian is pulled straight from their ass to cover for incompetent officials since no such term appears in the rules, as usual.

By how that call was made, no player is ever allowed to touch a goalie in the build up to a goal. That's an absurd standard no one should want.
