Love people hating on New Jersey when the team we played against is ‘toronto’ it’s like the butt of all Canadian stereotypes when you live in America.

people from the greatest city in the world ‘nyc’ move to new jersey…then there’s Toronto

I don't think anybody in here will defend the Blue Jaya fans in this situation. There is never a legit reason to throw things on the ice, especially at players or officials.
No, they shouldn't.
And, some of the people who threw things on the field that day were punished after the game.

The fans were angry that day because Texas had just been granted a run seemingly for free, at the discretion of the umpires.

Choo kept his hand in the batter's box and Martin threw the ball back towards the pitcher, but hit the hand of Choo in doing so.
The ball was deemed live and after some discussion, the run was awarded.

It was technically the correct call, but in game 5 of the playoffs, it should not have been granted.
There was absolutely no harm in stating that the player had interfered with the throw back to the pitcher and no run was awarded.

It was still a disgusting stain on Toronto fans and nobody defended it.

We especially didn't trash other places to live and call them homophobic and other derogatory names.

As some have done in this very thread.

The first two were subjective as hell
You can't run the goalie over while he is getting back into his net, what part of that play is subjective? The interference goal in the crease is a bit more nuanced, but the Leafs have been on both ends of this play several times, so perhaps we have more experience with how this play is called. I've seen goals called back for less.

I love how no Leaf fan mentioned Murray shouldering the net off when NJ had like 2+ min shift which could've also been a delay of game but when you have narratives to push and clickbait people about generalizations about a fanbase, you gotta do it.

Mind blowing that they don't know the rules

You cannot hit the goalie or make contact with the goalie in the crease and score

You cannot kick the puck into the net

Very straight forward, it's frustrating seeing your team put the puck in the net illegally 3 times in 1 night I get it. But you gotta understand the rules, those were the correct calls. There was a similar play where their goalie was knocked down in a different game earlier and their fan base lost their shit because it wasn't called. Maybe frustration caused by inconsistency over multiple games ? But these were the correct calls. They're lucky they didn't get a delay of game penalty for that.

Im not a fan of either team, but none of those goals were as black and white as you're making it seem. Pretty reasonable to be upset as a fan, not sure I've ever seen 3 goals disallowed in a single game, let alone all on one team
I could see if you are watching live and a bit drunk and don't know the rules having gotten free tickets, you might think you were screwed over.

Whether or not it's incidental.

I actually think that's tougher than the first one

Disappointing to see, fans have the right to be upset about what's going on in the game, and I understand what was at stake for NJD and their fans, but have some class, throwing things on the ice because of disallowed goals is a bad look.
The hypocrisy is amazing

Speaking of delay of game penalty. How about Murray nudging the net off that caused a 5 minute delay….

Every goalie does that and gets away with it. We just recently had a playoff game against Tampa where Vasy did that on a freaking PP and got away with it.

Not everyone throws shit and full beer cans on opposing players because they didn't like the refs calls.

Fans were still throwing shit after the game ended as the Leafs were walking off. That is not the same as throwing a jersey on the ice.

You beat the Devils! Congrats on winning the Stanley cup Leafs fans!:thumbu:

.......
Now I know why so many jealous fans said that during the win-streak. Its incredibly fun to say!

Murray went down like he was just hit by Scott Stevens. Pretty nice dive there

Murray didn't brace because he didn't expect contact and had his body in a neutral stance. You run into anybody like that and they're falling over

The refs tonight were completely inept tonight, there was a Devils powerplay where the Devils shot it into the net and the Leafs players were shouting at the ref collectively that it went into the net and didn't blow his whistle until that. Then the Marner high stick that got completely missed for a good 4-5 seconds until they stopped play to see what was going on and then CALLED the penalty.

New Jersey got a goal?

someone should ask the refs if they're sure that's okay
Not the Refs fault Jersey can't play within the rules
1st goal. Barely touched him and Murray had plenty of room to move his leg out to make the stop. Should’ve been a goal. Bad call
2nd goal. Incidental contact. Murray was out of his net and Tatar was skating around behind him and mUrray backs into him. Should’ve been a goal. Bad call.
3rd goal. Direct kicking motion.
First goal he was stopped from being able to move freely in his own crease which caused a goal.
2nd goal, he was stopped from getting back into his net and was clearly interfered with.
3rd goal, kicking motion.
It's not the Leafs fault New Jersey can't play within the rules

Don't remember anytime seeing fans at the ACC/Scotiabank arena throwing full beer cans at the opposing players because the didn't like the outcome going on in the game.

Its okay to admit that your fans at the game tonight were in the wrong for doing so.

I’ve seen each of those goals called as allowed goals against the devils over a course of a season. The fans that were there tonight have as well. We’re not idiots. Stop gaslighting us. Clean your beer up and stfu. Maybe you’ll find something you’re good at as opposed to calling the correct plays on ice.

I don't blame the Devils, Murray played the last game against them too and almost stole it and got them a point despite the Leafs playing like shit.

This time the Leafs played well and got a 2-0 lead and Murray is on some streak right now where it was going to be impossible to score 3 legal goals on him.

Might as well try to run some interference and see if it sticks.

Not to mention the devils completely dominated the leafs and each goal was a huge momentum shift.
